About this Role
We are seeking an experienced GCP Data Engineer to design, build, and operationalise cloud-based data processing solutions within the Software Engineering – BIBDA function. Based in Pune, this role focuses on translating high-level architectural designs into robust low-level implementations, developing scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform, and acting as a subject matter expert within the team while contributing to engineering excellence across projects.
What you’ll do
- Prepare low-level designs (LLD) aligned to high-level designs (HLD) defined by the project architect.
- Build, deploy, and operationalise data processing systems in line with approved designs.
- Develop and optimise data pipelines using GCP services such as BigQuery and Airflow.
- Apply standard and innovative cloud data pipeline patterns, working effectively within product constraints.
- Act as a subject matter expert in GCP data engineering, supporting and mentoring junior team members.
- Demonstrate continuous learning and apply new skills and technologies in day-to-day delivery.
- Manage small teams or projects end-to-end, from build through to closure, when required.
- Contribute to organisational improvements through process adoption, resource optimisation, and tooling enhancements.
- Actively contribute technical expertise to internal guilds and communities of practice.
Who you are
- Strong proficiency in SQL and data modelling concepts.
- Hands‑on experience with the GCP ecosystem, including BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Looker, and related services.
- Practical experience with DBT, including model development, Jinja templating, and lineage generation.
- Solid understanding and implementation experience of Data Vault 2.0 concepts on cloud data warehouses.
- Around 6+ years of overall industry experience, with at least 2–4 years working on GCP, DBT, and Data Vault 2.0.
- Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer certification is an advantage.
- Holds a recognised qualification such as B.E./B.Tech, BCA/MCA, or BSc/MSc in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Demonstrates strong collaboration, problem‑solving, and knowledge‑sharing behaviours.
What's in it for you
- Opportunity to work on enterprise‑scale data platforms within a global organisation.
- Exposure to modern cloud data engineering practices and tools on Google Cloud Platform.
- A collaborative environment that values knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and quality delivery.
- The chance to contribute beyond projects through guilds, process improvements, and tooling initiatives.
What skills you will learn
- Advanced application of GCP services for large-scale data engineering solutions.
- Practical optimisation techniques for cloud-based data pipelines and workflows.
- Deeper expertise in DBT, Data Vault 2.0, and modern data architecture patterns.
- Leadership and mentoring skills through SME responsibilities and small project ownership.
