Job summary

Deutsche Bank Pune seeks a Data Platform Engineer AVP to own infrastructure strategy for a singular data platform on Google Cloud. You will define architecture, lead implementations, and ensure robust maintenance of data pipelines, CI/CD, and compliance across the platform.

You will collaborate with data architects and product teams to roadmap infrastructure, while mentoring junior engineers and staying current with GCP security features and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience as a data or platform engineer with a focus on Google Cloud Platform in regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT in Data Warehouses and Data Lakes.
• Hands-on with Python, SQL, and Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions; familiarity with Docker and container tech.

Responsibilities

• Platform Engineering: Design, implement, and lead maintenance of our infrastructure and workflows on Google Cloud Platform.
• CI/CD Excellence: Develop and maintain high-throughput CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
• IaC Mastery: Create, manage, and audit Terraform templates ensuring auditability and compliance.
• Data Engineering: Design, develop, and deploy ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure reliability, security, and compliance using enterprise monitoring and logging tools (Google Cloud Logging).
• Release Management: Facilitate environment promotions across Dev, Test, Prod with code quality and reliability.

Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer to take ownership of the infrastructure strategy and execution for our one data platform for the Private Bank on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the architecture, leading the implementation, and ensuring the robust maintenance of our team's infrastructure, workflows, data engineering pipelines, and CI/CD pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.

This is a unique opportunity to provide technical expertise at the intersection of data engineering, advanced infrastructure management, and risk technology to significantly contribute to the security, scalability, and success of our critical systems.

The Data Engineer is responsible for driving engineering excellence and providing functional oversight across multiple areas of the bank's overall IT Platform/Infrastructure. This includes architectural analysis, development of automated systems, and strategic administration of cloud-native environments.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Platform Engineering: Design, implement, and lead the maintenance of our team's infrastructure and workflows on Google Cloud Platform, leveraging advanced GCP services.
• CI/CD Excellence: Develop and maintain robust, high-throughput CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub and GitHub Actions, championing automation across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• IaC Mastery: Create, manage, and audit complex Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates using Terraform, ensuring auditability and compliance.
• Data Engineering: Possess sound knowledge of the design, development, and deployment for ETL/ELT based data pipelines.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure the reliability, scalability, security, and compliance of our infrastructure and products using enterprise monitoring and logging tools, including Google Cloud Logging.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a technical liaison, working closely with data architects, data engineers, and product management teams to define infrastructure roadmaps and prioritize technical requirements.
• Release Management: Facilitate seamless environment promotions across Development, Testing, and Production tiers, ensuring code quality and deployment reliability.
• Innovation & Mentorship: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Google Cloud Platform, applying this knowledge strategically to improve products and processes, while mentoring junior engineers.

Your Skills And Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Proven experience in a data engineer or platform engineer role, with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform within a highly regulated industry. Strong knowledge of ETL processes in Data Warehouse environments and Data Lakes.
• Technical Depth: Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and Terraform.
• Pipeline Expertise: Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing integration, and GitHub/GitHub Actions. Good understanding of Docker, Artifactory, and container technologies.
• Orchestration: Experience with Apache Airflow.
• Security & Compliance: Strong understanding and practical application of security and compliance best practices, including specific GCP security features (IAM, VPC Service Controls, encryption).
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional initiatives and drive consensus
