Job summary

Vodafone Group Plc's VOIS in Pune seeks a skilled GCP Platform Engineer to build, operate, and automate Google Cloud Platform services that support data analytics, automation workloads, and platform initiatives.

Qualifications

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional cloud/platform engineering or DevOps experience.
• Hands-on experience configuring and managing GCP services (IAM, VPC, GCS, BigQuery, GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub).
• Proficiency with Terraform, CI/CD, Git-based workflows.
• Strong scripting (Python/Bash) and agile delivery experience.

About this Role

We are seeking a skilled and hands‑on GCP Platform Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team in Pune. This role is focused on building, operating, automating, and continuously improving Google Cloud Platform services that support applications, analytics platforms, automation workloads, and data solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring platform reliability, security, observability, scalability, and cost efficiency while enabling the onboarding of new services and solutions. This opportunity is ideally suited to professionals with strong GCP engineering expertise, infrastructure automation experience, and a collaborative Agile delivery mindset.

What you’ll do

• Build, operate, and maintain platform services across Google Cloud Platform.
• Support the onboarding of applications, automation workloads, data pipelines, and internal platform services.
• Provision, configure, and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Git‑based workflows, and automated deployment processes.
• Manage GCP services including IAM, VPC, GCS, BigQuery, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Composer, Pub/Sub, Cloud Logging, and Cloud Monitoring.
• Implement and maintain security guardrails covering access management, secrets management, compliance, tagging, and governance standards.
• Manage Kubernetes‑based workloads and containerised platforms using Docker and GKE.
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues across compute, networking, storage, orchestration, monitoring, and identity layers.
• Create and maintain reusable Terraform modules, deployment frameworks, operational runbooks, SOPs, and technical documentation.
• Support platform operations including upgrades, patching, vulnerability remediation, incident response, and access reviews.
• Monitor platform performance, reliability, and utilisation, identifying opportunities for service optimisation and automation.
• Collaborate within Agile teams, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and continuous improvement activities.

Who you are

• Degree or higher qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, or related fields.
• Strong hands‑on experience configuring, deploying, and managing services within Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with GCP services including IAM, VPC, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Composer, Pub/Sub, Monitoring, and Logging.
• Strong expertise in Terraform or comparable Infrastructure as Code solutions.
• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines and Git‑based development workflows.
• Good understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, networking concepts, firewall rules, service accounts, private connectivity, and secrets management.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex cloud platform issues across multiple technology layers.
• Experience creating operational documentation, runbooks, support procedures, and implementation standards.
• Knowledge of platform maintenance activities including patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and governance processes.
• Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with Airflow/Cloud Composer, BigQuery operations, data pipelines, Dataflow, or Spark workloads is advantageous.
• Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering practices, production support, incident response, and automation‑driven operations is preferred.
