Job summary

Ayawi Design is seeking a passionate Mechanical Engineering intern to assist our furniture design team in Bengaluru. You will help develop concepts, prepare AutoCAD drawings, and build 3D models, supporting real-world production from concept to final execution.

You'll gain exposure to SketchUp, V-Ray, Enscape, and material selection while coordinating with design and production teams. A strong portfolio and genuine interest in furniture design are essential for this 6-month, full-time internship.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Available for full-time in-office internship.
• Duration of 6 months.
• Has a design portfolio or college project portfolio.
• Familiar with Photoshop, V-Ray, Enscape, Lumion or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist the design team in developing furniture concepts, layouts, mood boards, and design presentations.
• Prepare and update AutoCAD drawings, furniture details, dimensions, and basic working drawings.
• Create 3D models and basic renders using SketchUp, V-Ray, Enscape, or similar software.
• Help in selecting materials, laminates, veneers, fabrics, finishes, hardware, and accessories.
• Coordinate with design and production teams to understand furniture construction and execution details.
• Make revisions to drawings and presentations based on feedback from the senior designer.
• Assist in preparing client presentations, product sheets, and specification documents.
• Visit sites, workshops, or vendor locations along with the team when necessary.
• Learn and understand the complete furniture design process from concept development to production and final execution.

Job description

About the internship:

1. Assist the design team in developing furniture concepts, layouts, mood boards, and design presentations.
2. Prepare and update AutoCAD drawings, furniture details, dimensions, and basic working drawings.
3. Create 3D models and basic renders using SketchUp, V-Ray, Enscape, or similar software.
4. Help in selecting materials, laminates, veneers, fabrics, finishes, hardware, and accessories.
5. Maintain and organise material samples, catalogues, vendor information, and design references.
6. Assist with furniture measurements, site measurements, and documentation wherever required.
7. Coordinate with the design and production teams to understand furniture construction and execution details.
8. Make revisions to drawings and presentations based on feedback from the senior designer.
9. Assist in preparing client presentations, product sheets, and specification documents.
10. Conduct basic research on furniture trends, materials, finishes, colours, and new products.
11. Follow up with vendors for samples, catalogues, product information, and quotations when required.
12. Visit sites, workshops, or vendor locations along with the team when necessary.
13. Help maintain project files, drawings, reference images, and design documentation in an organised manner.
14. Support the team with day-to-day design, execution, and coordination requirements.
15. Learn and understand the complete furniture design process from concept development to production and final execution.
