Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Functional Specialist (ISG) in a hybrid role to optimize Empower and LIMS for high-quality scientific operations. The specialist will translate complex laboratory workflows into Empower and LIMS configurations ensuring data integrity and regulatory alignment.

The position emphasizes end-to-end implementation, validation, and continuous improvement of digital laboratory solutions across sites, supporting quality and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• Deep functional expertise in Empower including instrument integration, method set configuration, result reporting.
• Experience with at least one major LIMS platform in regulated laboratory environments.
• Knowledge of GMP and GLP in pharma/biotech labs.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex laboratory workflows to configure Empower and LIMS for improved efficiency, accuracy and traceability.
• Collaborate with lab, quality and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and translate into functional designs that meet compliance expectations.
• Coordinate end-to-end Empower and LIMS implementation activities including configuration, validation, support, testing, preparation and controlled production deployment.
• Develop and maintain functional specifications, configuration documents and SOPs describing Empower and LIMS usage and governance.
• Guide laboratory teams on Empower data acquisition, processing and reporting to support regulatory-ready documentation.
• Monitor daily system usage and performance; analyze issues and drive timely resolutions with minimal disruption.
• Establish robust data integrity controls, audit trails, and user access governance in Empower and LIMS.
• Coordinate and execute user acceptance testing with realistic scenarios and test data.
• Train end users through structured sessions and demonstrations to ensure confident, compliant use.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance usability, streamline workflows and reduce manual interventions.
• Partner with global and regional teams to harmonize Empower and LIMS configurations, templates and processes.
