Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Mumbai seeks a Technical Lead to drive cross-team architecture, standards, and governance. You will enable other Tech Leads, shape design decisions, and guide hands-on full-stack work (Python/React) while enforcing best practices across projects.

You will lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and ensure scalable, secure solutions with modern CI/CD and cloud practices.

Qualifications

• Extensive full-stack Python/React experience with architectural ownership.
• Hands-on backend using Django, DRF, FastAPI or Flask.
• Strong REST API design and external system integrations.
• Modern React frontend with state management and performance focus.
• PostgreSQL design, queries, indexing and tuning.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and scalable architectures.
• GCP preferred; Azure/AWS acceptable; IaC with Terraform and containerization.

Responsibilities

• Define and standardize architecture patterns and design principles across projects.
• Review critical designs and guide multi-team implementations.
• Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with long-term vision.
• Lead CI/CD and DevOps practices; ensure code quality via SonarQube.

We are looking for a Technical Lead who will operate at a cross-team level, driving architecture, engineering standards, and technical governance across multiple projects. This role goes beyond a typical team-level Tech Lead and focuses on enabling other Tech Leads, ensuring consistency, and improving overall engineering maturity. The ideal candidate is a strong full-stack engineer (Python React) with deep architectural expertise and the ability to guide teams hands-on.

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Design Governance:

• Define and standardize architecture patterns and design principles


• Review and guide critical technical designs across teams


• Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with long-term vision


• Drive technology selection and standardization

2. Engineering Standards & Best Practices:

Establish and enforce:

• Coding standards


• Code review practices


• Testing strategies


• Drive adoption of:

CI/CD pipelines:

• Code quality tools (e.g., SonarQube)


• DevOps best practices


• Ensure consistency across all teams

3. Tech Lead Enablement:

• Mentor and support team-level Tech Leads


• Help resolve complex technical challenges

Conduct:

4. Full Stack Technical Leadership:

Provide hands-on guidance in:

• Backend development using Python

Break silos and promote reusable components and shared services

Qualifications

• 10–12 years of experience in software engineering

• Strong exposure to architecture and system design
