Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a software engineer to build scalable services for our Transportation Management System. You will develop reliable APIs, integrate with logistics partners, payment providers, mapping platforms, and internal services, and design event-driven workflows for shipments and routing.

You will own features from design through testing and production support, work with product and operations, and improve performance and observability.

Qualifications

• Experience building consumer-facing or operations-focused web applications.
• Hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Express.js, and REST API integrations.
• Good knowledge of asynchronous programming using callbacks, promises, and async/await.
• Experience building frontend applications using React, HTML, CSS, and modern browser APIs.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL, database design, indexing, and complex data models.
• Understanding of API security, error handling, third-party integrations, and production troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking fundamentals.
• Experience writing automated tests and supporting applications across development, testing, and production.

Some specific requirements

• Prior experience developing and maintaining consumer-facing or operations-focused web applications.
• Hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Express.js, and REST API integrations.
• Good knowledge of asynchronous programming using callbacks, Promises, and async/await.
• Experience building frontend applications using React, HTML, CSS, and modern browser APIs.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL, database design, indexing, and complex data models.
• Understanding of API security, error handling, third-party integrations, and production troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking fundamentals.
• Experience writing automated tests and supporting applications across development, testing, and production.
• You may not have experience with every tool in our stack, but you should be able to learn with appropriate guidance and resources.

Good to have

• Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven systems.
• Working knowledge of MongoDB and Redis.
• Familiarity with Vite, Webpack, Jest, Vitest, or Playwright.
• Understanding of distributed systems, caching, retries, and idempotency.
• Experience with GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and observability tools.
• Knowledge of TMS, shipments, trips, routing, mapping, or last-mile delivery systems.
