Job summary

upstream is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to work across the complete application stack, shaping technical solutions and building scalable, maintainable software.

You will collaborate with project managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into robust front-end and back-end solutions using React, TypeScript, and Node.js with modern tooling. This is a hands-on role with influence over architecture, integrations, performance, and engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in full stack software development across front-end and back-end.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent production experience.
• Front-end stack with React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS.
• Back-end stack with Node.js and Express.js or NestJS.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication, webhooks, and third-party integrations.
• Databases experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB or similar.
• Git experience with collaborative workflows.
• Testing experience with Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright.

About the Role

Working closely with project managers, designers, and engineers, you will translate requirements into well-structured front-end and back-end solutions using modern technologies. This is a hands-on senior role with real influence over application architecture, technical decisions, integrations, performance, and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Full-stack delivery — Build and maintain production-ready web applications across front-end and back-end.
• Front-end engineering — Develop responsive, accessible, and performant React interfaces using TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
• Back-end engineering — Design and develop scalable server-side applications and services using Node.js and appropriate frameworks.
• API & integrations — Build, document, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
• Database & data — Design data models, write efficient queries, and maintain reliable data flows across relational and NoSQL databases.
• Architecture — Contribute to application architecture, technical design, reusable patterns, and decisions around scalability and maintainability.
• Performance & security — Identify bottlenecks, improve application performance, and follow secure development practices.

Technical Qualifications

• Experience — 5+ years of professional experience in full stack software development, with strong production experience across both front-end and back-end.
• Education — A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent production experience.
• Front-end stack — Strong experience with React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS.
• Back-end stack — Strong experience with Node.js and frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
• APIs & integrations — Strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication, webhooks, third-party integrations, and service-to-service communication.
• Databases — Practical experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar databases.
• Version control — Strong Git experience and familiarity with collaborative branching and code review workflows.
• Testing — Experience with Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright, or comparable testing tools.
• Cloud & DevOps — Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, along with Docker and CI/CD practices.
