Job summary

Dognosis is a Bangalore-based deeptech startup focused on breath-based multi-cancer detection and canine olfaction-powered health tech. This full-time role, based in Rajajinagar, Bangalore, reports to the founders and offers ESOPs.

The position starts with a 70/30 split toward legal work and can evolve as the company scales. You will own regulatory strategy in India and the US, draft and negotiate partnership terms, and streamline contract management while ensuring compliance across systems and

Qualifications

• Law graduate with 0-3 years of post-qualification experience (fresh graduates welcome).
• Experience drafting agreements and handling regulatory matters is a plus.
• Ability to simplify complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop regulatory strategies for India and the US.
• Draft, review, and negotiate partnership terms with healthcare, research, and commercial partners.
• Manage routine contracts (NDAs, consultancy agreements, purchase orders) with streamlined processes and AI-assisted templates.
• Build compliant-by-design systems across product and data workflows.
• Coordinate external advisers (legal, tax, audit) and ensure efficient allocation of resources.

Dognosis digitizes canine cognition to detect 30+ human cancers from a single breath sample, with accuracy exceeding standard-of-care diagnostics and at a cost low enough to scale across entire populations.

About us

Dognosis is a deeptech enterprise devoted to unleashing the superpowers of humanity’s best friends. We build frontier technology, including brain-computer interfaces and wearable sensors, robotic platforms, and AI models, to standardize, scale, and augment canine olfaction. Our primary focus is developing a highly sensitive breath-based multi-cancer test capable of triaging risk at population-scale and democratizing the early detection of cancer. We are headquartered in Bangalore, India.

What the role involves

This is a full-time role based in Rajajinagar, Bangalore, with competitive pay + ESOPs. You’ll report to the founders and work closely with the founders’ office. We envision the role being roughly 70/30 legal/general to begin with, and can evolve over time.

Legal work

• Regulatory strategy - India now, and the US in the medium term. This is closely tied to go-to-market, business, and comms strategy
  
• Partnership terms - we work with healthcare, research, and commercial partners. You’d draft agreements for new partnerships, setting up the mechanics and governance of each collaboration in the process, and revising existing partnership terms where needed.
  
• Contract management - for routine contracts (NDAs, consultant agreements, purchase orders, etc), we’d like to streamline the process with (1) AI, (2) standard form agreements and clauses, (3) minimalist, plain-language drafting, and (4) two layers of human review where needed
  
• Compliance - building systems, automated where possible, that make us compliant by design (e.g. data protection built into our software), keep the human effort involved low, and stop things slipping through the cracks
  
• External advisers (legal, tax, audit, etc) - scoping what each one is responsible for, keeping work streamlined, and making sure we get competitive, cost-effective service
