Job summary

Wisemonk is seeking an experienced Application Test / QA Test Engineer to join our remote-first team in India. You will plan, execute, and improve testing across desktop, mobile, and web applications, working with developers, product owners, and support teams to ensure quality releases.

The role requires 4+ years of hands-on testing, attention to detail, and strong communication in a remote environment. Occasional travel may be required as we scale.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in software testing or QA engineering.
• Hands-on testing across desktop, mobile, and web applications.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test case design, defect lifecycle, SDLC, and agile development practices.
• Experience with functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, and exploratory testing.
• Ability to identify edge cases, user experience issues, workflow gaps, and system behavior inconsistencies.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and execute test cases for desktop, mobile, and web applications.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, sanity, exploratory, and usability testing.
• Review product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify gaps, risks, and edge cases.
• Log clear, detailed, and reproducible defects with screenshots, videos, logs, and supporting evidence where required.
• Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing to ensure existing functionality is not impacted.
• Work with developers and product teams to clarify expected behavior and resolve quality issues.
• Analyze application logs, error messages, user reports, and system behavior to help identify root causes.
• Create and maintain QA documentation, including test cases, test plans, defect reports, and release testing summaries.
• Participate in release readiness activities and provide clear QA sign-off recommendations.
• Suggest improvements to testing processes, tools, documentation, and automation coverage.
• Take ownership of QA practices and contribute to building scalable testing processes as the startup grows.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Application Test / QA Test Engineer with 4+ years of hands‑on testing experience across desktop, mobile, and web applications.

The ideal candidate should be detail‑oriented, technically curious, and capable of independently planning, executing, and improving testing activities.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and executing test cases
• Identifying and reporting defects

• Supporting release readiness

You will work closely with developers, product owners, and support teams to reproduce issues, analyze application behavior, and improve overall product stability.

This is a full-time remote role based in India. The role may require occasional travel, approximately 10%–20%, for conferences, team meetings, client meetings, training sessions, or industry events.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in software testing or QA engineering.
• Hands‑on experience testing desktop, mobile, and web applications.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test case design, defect lifecycle, SDLC, and agile development practices.
• Experience with functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, and exploratory testing.
• Ability to identify edge cases, user experience issues, workflow gaps, and system behavior inconsistencies.
• Experience using bug tracking or test management tools such as Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, Azure DevOps, or similar.
• Ability to write clear test cases, defect reports, and QA status updates.
• Basic technical troubleshooting skills, including reproducing issues, reviewing logs, and working with developers to isolate problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
• Comfortable with occasional travel for conferences, meetings, or business events.
• Interest in working in a startup environment with high ownership, flexibility, and growth potential.
• High attention to detail and strong ownership of testing outcomes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar.
• Basic understanding of SQL and database validation.
• Exposure to automation testing using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or similar tools.
• Exposure to performance testing, load testing, or security testing.
• Experience working with remote international teams.
• Prior experience in application support, technical support, or customer‑facing troubleshooting roles.
• Basic knowledge of Git or other version control systems.
• Prior startup experience or experience working in fast‑moving product teams.
• Experience attending or supporting product demos, conferences, client meetings, or industry events.
