Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled engineer to design, build, and deploy voice agents and AI applications. You will integrate backend systems, leverage LangChain and OpenAI APIs, and work with real-time telephony protocols. This role involves collaborating with client teams and traveling for on-site workshops.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in software development and 2+ years shipping live AI apps, with strong Python/Java and cloud experience. Knowledge of SIP/WebRTC and Twilio is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of software development experience.
• 2+ years shipping live LLM/AI applications (agents, RAG, or chatbots).
• Proficiency in Python or Java for backend work.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP.
• Deep knowledge of APIs, WebSockets, and authentication (OAuth2, JWT).
• Able to analyze data with SQL, Python, or Sheets.
• Strong client-facing communication and ability to explain tech clearly.
• Willingness to travel for on-site client workshops.

Responsibilities

• Design, prompt, build, and deploy production voice agents with guardrails and tool-calling logic.
• Build scalable backend integrations using REST APIs, WebSockets, webhooks, and CRM writes.
• Connect the Blue Machines platform with enterprise systems.
• Implement AI/LLM frameworks using LangChain, OpenAI APIs, or similar SDKs.
• Read system logs and traces to perform root-cause analysis.
• Determine whether issues originate from prompts, platform, or data pipelines.
• Monitor agent metrics like completion rate, latency, and cost; optimize accordingly.
• Run funnel experiments on conversation cadence; report findings to clients.
• Travel for live-call reviews; partner with client engineering teams; lead workshops.

• Lead technical workshops and manage client expectations
• Travel for live-call reviews

Requirements

• 3–5 years of software development experience
• At least 2+ years of hands‑on experience shipping live LLM/AI applications (agents, RAG, or chatbots; voice experience is a plus)
• Proficiency in Python or Java for backend architecture and integration work
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP
• Deep knowledge of APIs, WebSockets, and authentication protocols (OAuth2, JWT)
• Comfortable pulling and analyzing data independently using SQL, Python, or Sheets
• Strong client‑facing communication skills and ability to explain technical complexities in plain terms
• Willingness to travel for on‑site client workshops and deployment reviews
• Knowledge of telephony stacks and real‑time protocols (SIP, WebRTC, Twilio, Avaya, Ubona) is nice to have
• Experience with Voice AI or Conversational AI Systems is nice to have
