UpTroop Pvt. Ltd is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer in Bengaluru to sit with customers, understand how best sales teams operate, and translate that into AI coaching for widespread adoption.

You are an engineer first and closest to the customer. You will deploy AI with customers, integrate with enterprise systems, and contribute to making the core product better by feeding field insights back to the AI team.

Why we exist

People will always sell, advise and serve. Someone deciding on a loan, an insurance policy or an investment wants a person across the table. That is not going to change.

What can change is how ready that person is. Today, how good a field agent becomes depends on how good their manager is. The best managers play the difficult customer, coach every conversation and know exactly who is ready. There are never enough of them.

Where we are today

• 14,000+ frontline people practise on UpTroop in production, at financial services companies in India.
• Voice‑first AI role‑plays and coaching in 11 Indian languages, delivered on WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams and the web.
• Every practice conversation is scored and coached, and leaders see readiness by agent, branch and region.
• We are now taking UpTroop to insurance distribution in the US.

Where we are going

We are not a thin wrapper around someone else's model. The hard problems are ours to solve:

• AI avatars that feel like real customers. Lifelike personas you can interrupt, argue with and win over: the business owner who has heard five insurance pitches this week, the first‑time borrower who is nervous about the paperwork.
• Coaching beyond words. Today we coach on what was said and how it was said. Next comes pace, tone and confidence, and eventually body language and presence on video.
• Speech that works for India. Low‑latency voice across Indian languages, regional accents and people switching languages mid‑sentence, where off‑the‑shelf models still struggle.
• AI at the edge. Field agents use mid‑range Android phones on patchy networks. Moving parts of the voice and scoring stack onto the device is a problem we want to crack.
• Evaluation as a product. Scoring a sales conversation the way a great manager would, consistently, across thousands of people and many languages.

About the role

Every enterprise we work with has its own products, rules, languages and systems. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you sit with the customer, understand how their best people actually sell, and turn that into AI that coaches everyone else. You are an engineer first, and you are closest to the customer.

What you will do

Deploy AI with customers

• Turn a customer's product notes, SOPs, disclosure rules and real call patterns into AI role‑plays, personas and scoring rubrics.
• Tune prompts, personas and evaluations until the customer's sales heads agree the scores are right.
• Take a deployment from pilot to thousands of users across branches, regions and languages.

Integrate with enterprise systems

• Single sign‑on (Microsoft Entra ID), Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp delivery.
• Data flows with customer CRMs, HR and learning systems, within strict security and compliance requirements.
• Readiness data that leaders can act on, in the tools they already use.

Make the product better

• Spot patterns across customers and turn one‑off fixes into platform features.
• Bring field insight back to the core AI team: what breaks, what agents love, what leaders need next.

What we are looking for

• 4-5 years of software engineering, ideally including customer‑facing or solutions work.
• A strong pedigree: IIT, NIT, BITS, IIIT or similar, or a track record that speaks for itself.
• Strong Python or TypeScript, APIs and cloud (we run on Azure).
• Hands‑on experience building with LLMs: prompting, retrieval, tool use and evaluation.
• Comfortable in a room with a bank's sales head or IT security team, and with a terminal.
• Willing to travel to customer sites in India when needed.

Bonus points

• Experience in banking, insurance or lending technology.
• Enterprise integrations: SSO, Microsoft Teams apps, WhatsApp Business API.
• Voice AI or conversational AI deployments.
• Fluency in more than one Indian language.

• Compensation: ₹15 LPA fixed plus meaningful ESOPs. We are looking for people who want to build long‑term ownership in the company, not just a salary.
