Job summary

Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies is seeking a skilled cell formation engineer to establish, optimize, and sustain the cell formation process. You will ensure safe operations, stable performance, high quality, and continuous improvement while meeting production, yield, and cost targets.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing (formation and aging line management).
  • Experience in automated formation systems, data traceability (MES), and process optimization required.
  • Hands-on experience with Formation & Aging Equipment, MES systems, and data analytics.
  • Familiar with 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, and PFMEA concepts.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving and root cause analysis (RCA) capability.
  • Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 and hands-on involvement in maintaining quality within cells.
  • Familiar with safety protocols and workplace safety regulations applicable to manufacturing plants.
  • Demonstrated capability to drive continuous improvement projects with measurable results in productivity or cost savings.

Responsibilities

  • Define, maintain, and optimize formation recipes (CC/CV profiles, voltage cut-offs, current rates, temperature control, etc.).
  • Ensure accurate data logging, MES traceability, and maintenance of process parameters for each batch and individual cell.
  • Equipment performance (formation cabinets, RT/HT chambers, degassing stations) and coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all cells meet defined electrical, mechanical, and safety parameters post-formation.
  • Analyze formation data trends to identify anomalies or deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the Quality and R&D teams for process validation, cell characterization, and improvement.
  • Ensure strict adherence to EHS standards related to high-voltage, thermal control, and chemical safety.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO 9001, IATF16949, ISO 45001, etc.).
  • Participate in failure analysis, process optimization, automation upgrades, and yield improvement projects.
  • Support new cell chemistry introduction and pilot runs in collaboration with R&D and process engineering.
  • Recommend improvements in equipment, software, and layout for productivity and quality enhancement.

Job Purpose

Role & responsibilities
