Job summary

VyomIC in Bengaluru, India, is building the next-generation Global Satellite Constellation for highly precise PNT using LEO satellites. We seek a Flight Software Engineer who is responsible for developing and validating the software, procedures, and operational logic to operate the payload throughout the mission lifecycle.

You will interface between payload subsystems, the satellite bus team, and the ground segment to ensure end-to-end integration and mission readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, etc.
  • 2 – 5 years of relevant work experience in the space domain.
  • Solid foundational understanding of space systems, software system architecture, software testing, etc.
  • Familiarity with data architecture concepts, data parsing (JSON, XML, CCSDS), and automated software logic.
  • Experience in Python, Matlab & C++ programming, API design, automated testing, code review, and documentation.
  • Experience with maintaining peer-reviewed code and continuous integration and deployment workflows and tooling like GitLab CI and Docker or similar.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical literature, institutional ICDs, and international legal/regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with uncertain or incomplete tracking observations.

Responsibilities

  • Mission sequence and modes: Define the sequence of payload operations from launch through commissioning and routine operations.
  • Coordination with Bus team: Define command and telemetry interfaces, decide on packet formats, coordinate power-on/off sequences, participate in integration testing.
  • Telecommand and Operation Database: Maintain command databases, define telemetry parameters, create event and alarm definitions. configure operational limits.
  • Coordination with Payload Team: Work with payload software team to ensure seamless integration with the platform software team.
  • Operational Software Mode Definition: Take ownership of software modes of the spacecraft, define the entry and exit modes from software perspective.

About the Role

We are building the next-generation Global Satellite Constellation for highly precise and secure Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) using Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. We are seeking a motivated Flight Software Engineer who ****is responsible for developing and validating the software, procedures, and operational logic required to operate the payload throughout the mission lifecycle. The role acts as the technical interface between the payload subsystem teams (FPGA and embedded software), the satellite bus team, and the ground segment, ensuring seamless end-to-end integration, command and telemetry compatibility, mission planning, operational readiness, and support during integration, commissioning, and in-orbit operations.

Key Responsibilities
