About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Flight Engineer to join our drone technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, integrating, and optimizing software systems for UAVs and autonomous aerial platforms. This role involves working on flight control software, payload integration, onboard computing systems, ground control stations, and data workflows to support advanced drone applications in agriculture and remote sensing. The candidate will play a key role in enhancing our drone ecosystem by contributing to software development, system integration, and research initiatives aimed at expanding the capabilities of our aerial platforms.

Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in UAVs, autonomous systems, robotics, embedded systems, or related domains.
- Experience working with drone software, flight controllers, onboard computers, or autonomous vehicle platforms is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Experience working in a UAV, drone, robotics, or autonomous vehicle ecosystem.
- Familiarity with onboard computing platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson and similar embedded systems.
- Understanding of flight control systems, drone architecture, and autonomous navigation.
- Experience with Linux-based development environments.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as MAVLink, UART, CAN, SPI, and I2C.
- Experience with software integration, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with Ground Control Stations (GCS) and flight planning systems.
- Understanding of sensor integration and data acquisition systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities Flight Engineer
- Design, develop, test, and maintain flight software for UAV platforms.
- Enhance and optimize drone control systems to improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Develop software modules for autonomous flight operations and mission execution.
- Support firmware-level integration and customization where required.
Ground Control Station (GCS) Development
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of Ground Control Station applications.
- Improve communication between drones, onboard computers, and control systems.
- Develop monitoring, telemetry, and mission-planning functionalities.
Payload Integration
- Develop and integrate payload systems with in-house UAV platforms and custom Ground Control Stations.
- Support integration of multispectral, hyperspectral, imaging, and other sensor payloads.
- Develop software workflows for payload control, data acquisition, and synchronization.
- Ensure seamless interaction between payload hardware and onboard computing systems.
Data Workflow & System Integration
- Develop and optimize end-to-end data collection and processing workflows.
- Support integration of UAV-generated data into the broader BharatRohan ecosystem.
- Collaborate with hardware, AI, remote sensing, and application teams to improve operational workflows.
Research & Development
- Conduct research into new drone technologies, autonomous capabilities, and emerging applications.
- Explore innovative use cases for drones in agriculture, remote sensing, and precision farming.
- Prototype and evaluate new software solutions to improve system performance and scalability.
- Participate in testing, validation, and deployment of new UAV features and applications.
Testing & Validation
- Conduct software testing, debugging, and validation in both simulation and real-world environments.
- Support field trials and flight testing activities.
- Analyze system performance and implement improvements based on test results.
