Job summary

Aditya Birla Group's Vilayat site seeks an Electrical Project Engineer to lead end-to-end electrical projects in a chemical plant environment. You will handle LT/HT systems, flameproof equipment, and drive/systems integration with automation teams.

Responsibilities include maintenance, commissioning, and safe operation across electrical networks, with a focus on safety and compliance in hazardous areas.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of electrical engineering experience in chemical/process plants.
• Experience in hazardous area installations (Zone 1/Zone 2) and flameproof equipment.
• Experience with LT/HT systems (up to 33 kV) and electrical maintenance (preventive, breakdown, shutdown).
• Ability to read SLDs, GA drawings, and cable schedules.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end electrical project execution for greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Operation/maintenance of LT (415V) and HT systems up to 33 kV; transformers, MCCs, PCCs, distribution boards.
• Conduct preventive, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance; motor and drive troubleshooting.
• Install and maintain flameproof motors, junction boxes, and panels in hazardous areas.
• Carry out electrical engineering calculations: cable sizing, voltage drop, derating, short-circuit, load.
• Work with drives, motors, and power quality including VFDs and harmonics troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with automation/instrumentation teams; knowledge of Modbus/Profibus/Profinet; energization & commissioning of systems.
• Adhere to safety practices, LOTO, permits, and ensure compliance with chemical plant standards.

Position: Electrical Project Engineer

Role Objective:

To execute, commission, and maintain electrical systems in a chemical plant environment, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation of LT & HT systems with strong exposure to project execution, electrical maintenance, flameproof installations, and modern electrical technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Electrical Project Execution

• End-to-end execution of electrical works for greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Supervision and hands‑on involvement in cable tray installation, HT/LT cable laying, glanding, termination, and panel erection.
• Coordination with civil, mechanical, and instrumentation teams.

2. LT & HT Electrical Systems

• Operation and maintenance of LT (415V) and HT systems (up to 33 kV).
• Experience with transformers, VCBs, ACBs, MCCs, PCCs, and distribution boards.
• Understanding of protection schemes and interlocks.

3. Electrical Maintenance

• Preventive, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance experience.
• Troubleshooting of motors, drives, panels, and field equipment.

4. Flameproof & Hazardous Area Knowledge

• Understanding of hazardous area classifications (Zone 1 & Zone 2).
• Installation and maintenance of flameproof motors, junction boxes, lighting, and panels.
• Compliance with statutory and safety requirements for chemical plants.

5. Electrical Engineering & Calculations

• Cable sizing, voltage drop, derating, short‑circuit, and load calculations.
• Reading and interpretation of SLDs, GA drawings, and cable schedules.

6. Drives, Motors & Power Quality

• Hands‑on experience with VFDs, soft starters, and motor control systems.
• Troubleshooting of VFD trips and harmonics‑related issues.

7. Communication & Latest Technologies

• Knowledge of Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, and Ethernet‑based systems.
• Coordination with automation and instrumentation teams.
• IR/PI testing, earthing resistance measurement, continuity checks.
• Able to independently handle energization and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Proficient in relay configuration, programming, and related electrical control activities.

9. Safety & Compliance

• Electrical safety practices, LOTO, work permit systems.
• Documentation, test reports, and as‑built drawings.
• Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Effective utilization of available resources (manpower, materials, time) to achieve project and maintenance objectives.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, optimize resource deployment, and support overall plant goals.

Preferred Background:

• Experience in chemical, petrochemical, or process industries.
• Exposure to shutdowns, brownfield execution, and hazardous areas.
