Job summary

Hire Hubb is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Aerospace Fixture Design Engineer in Chennai, India. You will design machining, assembly, and inspection fixtures using SolidWorks, perform GD&T analysis, and develop workholding solutions for aerospace components while ensuring AS9100 compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Diploma in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Design and develop machining, assembly, and inspection fixtures using SolidWorks
  
• Create 3D models, detailed drawings, BOMs, and documentation for fixtures
  
• Develop workholding solutions for complex aerospace components including structural parts, engine components, and precision assemblies
  
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure fixture accuracy as per GD&T requirements
  
• Collaborate with manufacturing, CAM, and quality teams to ensure fixture suitability and manufacturability
  
• Support CNC machining processes (3/4/5-axis) by designing fixtures that ensure rigidity, repeatability, and ease of setup
  
• Select appropriate materials, standard components, and clamping mechanisms
  
• Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback for optimization
  
• Support fixture prove-out, validation, and first article inspection (FAI)
  
• Troubleshoot fixture-related issues on the shop floor and implement improvements
  
• Ensure compliance with aerospace standards (AS9100, customer specifications)
  
• Drive cost reduction, cycle time improvement, and standardization of fixture designs

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering
  
• 8-12 years of experience in fixture design, preferably in aerospace or precision manufacturing
  
• Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks (3D modeling & detailing)
  
• Expertise in GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation
  
• Experience designing fixtures for CNC machining and assembly processes
