Job description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of fire protection systems within the hospital environment, implementing safety protocols, conducting regular inspections, and responding promptly to any fire-related emergencies. You will work closely with the hospital's engineering and maintenance teams to ensure the facility meets all local fire safety regulations, guidelines, and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular fire drills, ensuring that staff and patients are familiar with evacuation procedures.
  • Inspect and maintain fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, and emergency exits to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Monitor and test fire protection equipment, ensuring compliance with national and local fire safety codes.
  • Develop and implement fire safety policies and procedures tailored to the hospital environment.
  • Maintain fire safety records, including inspections, drills, and training programs.
  • Provide fire safety training and awareness programs for hospital staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • Respond promptly to fire-related emergencies, assist in evacuations, and coordinate with emergency services.
  • Ensure that fire safety equipment is readily available and operational, making repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Monitor and assess potential fire hazards within the hospital's physical plant and report issues to the maintenance team.
  • Work with hospital management to ensure the implementation of fire safety best practices and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with current fire safety regulations, hospital safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Provide support during regulatory audits or inspections by fire safety authorities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Safety, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field (preferred).
  • Certification in Fire Safety Management or a related discipline (NFPA, OSHA, or similar certification is a plus).
  • Previous experience (2-3 years) in fire safety or maintenance in a healthcare or industrial environment is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of fire protection systems, fire codes, and regulations specific to healthcare facilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and train staff.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and hospital management teams.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a vehicle in case of emergency response situations.
