Job summary

Isgec Heavy Engineering is seeking a Fire Safety Lead to manage fire prevention, emergency response, and compliance programs. The role ensures readiness of firefighting equipment, conducts training, and coordinates with internal teams and external services for incident management.

The position emphasizes regular inspections, risk assessment, and documentation to maintain high safety standards across manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Fire & Safety or equivalent required.
  • Certification from a recognized Fire Service/Fire Safety institution preferred.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in fire and emergency services.

Job description

1. Fire Prevention & Protection
  • Conduct regular inspections of fire protection systems, firefighting equipment, hydrants, extinguishers, fire alarms, and detection systems.
  • Identify fire hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, testing, and readiness of all firefighting equipment.
  • Monitor hot work and other high-risk activities and ensure compliance with fire safety requirements.
2. Emergency Response
  • Respond promptly to fire, emergency, rescue, and other incident situations.
  • Lead and coordinate firefighting and emergency response activities until the situation is brought under control.
  • Assist in emergency evacuation and rescue operations.
  • Coordinate with external emergency services, including the Fire Department, when required.
3. Fire Safety Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable fire safety laws, statutory requirements, and internal EHS standards.
  • Support the process for obtaining and renewing Fire NOC and other relevant approvals.
  • Maintain fire safety records, inspection reports, certificates, and documentation.
4. Training & Awareness
  • Conduct fire safety training and awareness programmes for employees, contract workers, and security personnel.
  • Organize and conduct mock drills and emergency evacuation exercises.
  • Train employees in the proper use of fire extinguishers and basic firefighting techniques.
  • Evaluate mock drills and recommend improvements to emergency preparedness.
5. Emergency Preparedness
  • Maintain and periodically review the Emergency Response Plan and evacuation procedures.
  • Ensure emergency exits, escape routes, assembly points, and firefighting access remain unobstructed.
  • Maintain an updated list of emergency contacts and response teams.
  • Ensure availability and preparedness of emergency response personnel.
6. Reporting & Coordination
  • Investigate fire incidents and near misses and prepare incident reports.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and track corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Production, Security, EHS, and other departments on fire safety matters.
  • Submit periodic MIS on fire safety inspections, incidents, drills, training, and equipment status.
Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in Fire & Safety, Fire Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
  • Certification from a recognized Fire Service/Fire Safety institution will be preferred.
Experience
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in fire and emergency services, preferably in a manufacturing, engineering, heavy industry, refinery, power plant, or similar industrial environment.
  • Experience in handling industrial firefighting systems and emergency response is preferred.
