Qualifications

  • Experience in Thermal Power Plants, heavy industries, refineries, or infrastructure projects.
  • 4-8 years of Fire & Safety Management experience.
  • Greenfield thermal power project construction/commissioning preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain fire protection systems across plant facilities.
  • Lead emergency response, drills, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure NBC, Factory Act, Explosives Rules and related fire safety regulations compliance.
  • Coordinate with local fire authorities and emergency services.
  • Review and enforce PTW systems for hot work, confined spaces, and high‑risk activities.
  • Conduct HIRA and develop fire emergency and evacuation plans.
  • Train employees and contractors on emergency response and safety procedures.
  • Lead safety audits, track corrective actions, and report to authorities.

Job description

Purpose/Objective

Adani Power Limited is looking for a competent and proactive Deputy Manager - Fire & Safety to strengthen fire prevention, emergency preparedness, occupational safety, and statutory compliance at the Pirpainti Thermal Power Project.

The role will be responsible for developing and implementing robust fire protection systems, emergency response strategies, and safety management practices across construction, commissioning, and operational phases of the project.

Key Responsibilities of Role
  • Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of fire protection systems across plant facilities.
  • Monitor performance and readiness of fire water networks, hydrants, sprinklers, firefighting pumps, foam systems, and fire alarm systems.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of fire-fighting equipment and emergency response facilities.
  • Review fire safety requirements during engineering, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Develop and implement fire prevention programs to eliminate potential fire hazards.
  • Conduct Fire Risk Assessments (FRA) and identify critical fire hazards.
  • Prepare and maintain fire emergency response plans, evacuation plans, and firefighting procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with National Building Code (NBC), Factory Act, Explosives Rules, Petroleum Rules, and applicable fire safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with local Fire Authorities and Emergency Services.
  • Monitor safety compliance during civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning activities.
  • Implement Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems for hot work, confined space entry, excavation, lifting, and work-at-height activities.
  • Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) for project activities.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with company safety and fire protection standards.
  • Lead emergency response teams during fire incidents and industrial emergencies.
  • Organize and conduct fire drills, mock drills, evacuation exercises, and disaster management simulations.
  • Ensure firefighting personnel are trained and emergency response equipment remains operational.
  • Support incident command during emergencies and coordinate with external agencies.
  • Investigate fire incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track closure of observations from safety audits and fire inspections.
  • Ensure timely reporting and compliance with statutory authorities.
  • Conduct fire safety training programs, induction sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
  • Train employees and contractors on emergency response, fire extinguisher usage, evacuation procedures, and rescue operations.
  • Develop fire and safety competency programs for employees and contractors.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in Thermal Power Plants, Power Projects, Heavy Industries, Refineries, Petrochemicals, Manufacturing, or Infrastructure Projects.
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience in Fire & Safety Management.
  • Exposure to greenfield thermal power project construction and commissioning will be highly preferred.
