Job summary

Johnson Controls Ltd is seeking an experienced Design Engineer – Fire Fighting to design sprinkler and gas suppression systems in line with BS EN, NFPA, FM and IS standards. You will support Fire Life Safety Sales & Design, interpret specifications, and generate value engineering ideas.

Responsibilities include executing projects through their lifecycle, reviewing drawings and tender docs, producing hydraulic calculations and BOMs, and maintaining quality and compliance across all workstreams.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of relevant experience in fire protection design.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA, BS EN, and IS codes.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting tender documents.
• Ability to lead multiple projects and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Job Summary

The role focuses on designing sprinkler and gas suppression systems in accordance with BS EN, NFPA, FM, and IS codes and standards. This engineer supports Fire Life Safety Sales & Design, including Fire Protection & Gas Suppression Systems. Responsibilities include taking project scope, interpreting specifications, creating scope of work documents, performing risk analysis, ensuring building code compliance, and generating value engineering ideas.

Responsibilities

• Execute projects independently throughout the lifecycle.
• Design fire suppression systems per local codes and standards.
• Review MEP drawings, tender specifications, and identify fire suppression requirements.
• Complete input studies using checklists and raise RFIs.
• Prepare fire suppression layouts, engineering Bills of Materials, and hydraulic calculations.
• Ensure quality, defect‑free drawings and adherence to processes and guidelines.
• Produce estimates and proposals to influence company competitiveness and project profitability.
• Maintain work within defined workflow processes and policies.

Qualifications

• BE or M.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, Instrumentation, Electrical, or Electronics.
• 4–8 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong domain knowledge of fire fighting and gas suppression systems (Novec, FM200, Inergen, CO2, sprinkler, hydrant, water spray, special hazards).
• Experience with hydraulic calculations, pump room design, water demand calculations, and coordination.
• Familiarity with BS EN, NFPA, and related codes and standards.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, FireCAD, SprinkCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
• Understanding of tender documents and specifications.
• Ability to learn quickly, work collaboratively, and lead multiple simultaneous projects.
• Prefer NFPA certification, CFPS, and LPCB certification obtained within 12 months of hire.
