Job summary

Lloyd's Register in Mumbai, India seeks an experienced finance professional to join the Class & Advisory Finance team. You will ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial performance, provide insight into actual results vs budget, forecasts and prior year, with a strong focus on P&L and balance sheet management.

You will collaborate with Finance Business Partners and the wider Finance community to promote best practices, robust controls, and high-quality reporting across the business.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified with a management accounting/commercial accounting background; recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
• Trusted and credible resource to stakeholders across business and management teams; capable of building relationships.
• Collaborative and able to establish and maintain relationships with business leaders and Finance community.
• Solid understanding of a robust control framework.

Responsibilities

• Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual performance is reported in line with timetables.
• Explain material variances to Budget, latest forecast and Prior Year clearly.
• Support budgeting cycles by preparing and reviewing submissions with robust assumptions.
• Collaborate with budget owners to ensure cost lines reflect accurate phasing and activity.
• Prepare periodic Global Functions forecasts to assess budget delivery.
• Engage with stakeholders on headcount planning, staff movements, cross-charges and major cost drivers.
• Coordinate with SSC, Statutory Compliance and GL teams to understand performance.
• Work with Controllers and Finance heads to follow common processes and templates.
• Respond to management questions and, where needed, obtain timely answers.
• Interface with Statutory Compliance, GL and SSC teams to resolve reporting/process issues.
• Ensure Balance Sheet risks and opportunities are communicated with the Finance team.

The role

• Ensure that monthly, quarterly and annual performance is accurately reported and ready for review by Business Finance in accordance with published timetables.
• Ensure that all material variances to Budget, latest forecast and Prior Year are explained clearly and concisely
• Support the annual Global Functions budgeting cycle by preparing and reviewing budget submissions, ensuring underlying assumptions are robust and aligned with business strategy.
• Collaborate with budget owners to ensure cost lines (e.g., personnel, L&P, insurance, promotional costs) reflect accurate phasing and expected activity.
• Prepare periodic Global Functions forecasts (i.e. 0+12, 3+9, 6+6 & 9+3 cycles) to assess whether the business remains on track to deliver its budget.
• Update forecast assumptions through engagement with stakeholders, including headcount planning, staff movements, cross-charges and major cost drivers.
• Work with the Finance Shared Service Centre, the Statutory Compliance and GL teams, as well as Business Managers to gain a full understanding of financial performance.
• Work with fellow controllers, the Head of Finance Controlling and the Head of Financial accounting to ensure that common processes with common templates are followed.
• Provide answers to questions from Class & Advisory Finance and management in relation to financial performance; and where answers are not known, to take responsibility for obtaining the answers in a timely manner.
• Act as an interface between Class & Advisory Finance and the Statutory Compliance Team, GL team and the Finance Shared Service Centre, helping to resolve any reporting and process issues.
• Ensure that the Balance Sheet is reviewed and understood and that any risks and opportunities in the Balance Sheet are clearly communicated to Class & Advisory Finance in liaison with the GL team.
• Respond to audit queries in relation to P&L and Balance Sheet movements. Ensuring the responses are clear and concise and reflect the risk to the reported results.

What You Bring

• Degree qualified with a management accounting/commercial accounting background; a recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) and significant experience of operating in an international finance function, with medium to large matrix structure.
• Being regarded as a trusted and credible resource by key stakeholders within both business and/or area management teams; able to build good relationships. Have a practical approach, visible across the businesses with good communication and other interpersonal skills.
• A motivated and effective collaborator who can establish and maintain good relationships with business leaders and across the Finance community.
• Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of a solid control framework.
