FyndBridge Consultants & Advisors seeks a Finance Officer to oversee university financial operations, ensuring compliance, budgeting accuracy, and prudent resource use. The role supports strategic financial planning and aligns with institutional policies and regulatory frameworks.

The incumbent will supervise finance staff, coordinate with banks and auditors, and ensure timely financial reporting and governance across departments.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting from a recognized institution.
  • CA/CMA/ICWA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in finance, budgeting, and compliance in higher education or large institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting in collaboration with university leadership.
  • Oversee accounting operations including receivables, payables, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure statutory compliance, taxation, audits, and financial reporting integrity.
  • Prepare MIS reports and financial presentations for senior management.
  • Manage grants, funds, and sponsored project finances with proper documentation.

Job description

We are hiring for a key leadership opportunity with a reputed organization in the Higher Education sector.

Role Overview: The Finance Officer will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the University, ensuring financial prudence, statutory compliance, budgeting, accounting accuracy, and effective utilization of resources. The incumbent will play a key role in supporting strategic financial planning and maintaining financial discipline in alignment with university policies, regulatory frameworks, and institutional objectives.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Budgeting
  • Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts in consultation with university departments and leadership.
  • Monitor budget utilization and ensure cost optimization and financial efficiency.
  • Support long-term financial planning and institutional growth initiatives.
Accounts & Financial Management
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including receivables, payables, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of books of accounts and preparation of financial statements.
  • Monitor cash flow, fund management, and financial reporting systems.
Compliance & Audit
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, taxation, and financial norms applicable to higher education institutions.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
  • Maintain compliance with university regulations, financial policies, and government guidelines.
Financial Reporting & Governance
  • Prepare periodic financial reports, MIS reports, and presentations for the Vice Chancellor and senior management.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support institutional decision-making.
  • Maintain transparency and accountability in financial processes.
Grants, Funds & Resource Management
  • Monitor utilization of grants, research funds, scholarships, and sponsored project finances.
  • Ensure proper documentation and financial reporting related to externally funded projects.
  • Support mobilization and efficient management of institutional financial resources.
Team Coordination & Stakeholder Management
  • Coordinate with banks, auditors, statutory bodies, and government agencies.
  • Work closely with academic and administrative departments for smooth financial functioning.
  • Supervise finance and accounts staff to ensure operational efficiency.
Educational Qualifications & Experience Required
  • Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting (M.Com/MBA Finance) from a recognized institution.
  • Preferred Professional Qualification: CA/CMA/ICWA or equivalent professional certification will be preferred.
  • Minimum 12+ years of relevant experience in finance, accounts, budgeting, and compliance, preferably in the higher education/university sector or large institutions.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, taxation, audit processes, ERP/accounting software, and statutory compliance.
