A Financial Controller serves as the lead corporate accountant, overseeing all day-to-day accounting operations, managing the month-end close process, and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. This role acts as a vital bridge between complex transactional data and executive-level strategic planning, typically reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or VP of Finance.

Core Roles & Responsibilities'

The primary objective of a Financial Controller is to maintain impeccable financial integrity through several critical operational areas:

Financial Control & Accounting Operations

• General Ledger Management: Oversee all corporate ledgers, ensuring correct coding, balancing, and execution of transaction records.
• Operational Oversight: Supervise and streamline accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), billing, and payroll processing.
• Period-End Close: Lead and execute rigorous month-end and year-end closing processes to deliver timely corporate updates.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Statement Preparation: Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements.
• Variance Analysis: Monitor budget-to-actual variances and provide actionable trend analysis to company leadership.
• Cash Flow Monitoring: Track everyday cash inflows and outflows to optimize working capital and corporate liquidity.

Compliance, Risk Management & Audits

• Internal Controls: Design, implement, and test strict internal spending policies to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
• Audit Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, preparing necessary schedules and resolving compliance findings.
• Regulatory Tax Filing: Ensure total adherence to GAAP or IFRS guidelines alongside completing local, state, and federal tax filings.

Team Leadership & Process Optimization

• Staff Mentorship: Recruit, train, and manage accounting managers, bookkeepers, and operational specialists.
• Systems Improvement: Champion digital transformation initiatives, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) system upgrades and data automation.
