Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (essential).
  • MBA in Finance or related field (preferred) and professional CA/CPA/CMA (desirable).
  • 5–7+ years in finance/accounting, nonprofit sector preferred.
  • Experience with GST, TDS, and FCRA compliance for Indian NPOs.
  • Proficiency in Tally/Zoho Books/QuickBooks; Excel; ability to produce MIS and reports.

Purpose

The purpose of the Finance Manager role at CEEW is to ensure robust financial management and sustainability by overseeing budgeting, compliance, donor fund utilization, and reporting. The role involves aligning financial strategies with organizational goals, maintaining transparency, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. By providing accurate financial insights and fostering efficient resource allocation, the Finance Manager supports CEEW’s mission to drive impactful research and solutions in energy, environment, and sustainable development.

Job duties and accountabilities
  • Develop and manage organizational and project budgets to align with strategic goals.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, including GST, TDS, and FCRA.
  • Review Grant and consultancy agreements and take care of all ongoing compliance related to these agreements.
  • Oversee financial reporting for donors, stakeholders, and management.
  • Manage cash flow, fund utilization, and financial forecasting.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of findings.
  • Monitor and control expenses to ensure adherence to approved budgets.
  • Manage payroll processing and vendor payments with accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide financial insights in the form of creative MIS or PowerPoint presentations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain robust financial systems, policies, and internal controls.
  • Manage all types of audits (Statutory, FCRA and Internal) and ensure queries are not repeated.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Collaborate with program teams to align funding with project deliverables.
  • Mitigate financial risks and recommend cost‑saving measures.
  • Help automation and migration process for accounting and other related processes.
  • Ensuring all organisational policies are implemented and providing training as per the need.
  • Oversee the use of financial software and ensure data security.
Selection Criteria
Educational Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (essential).
  • A master’s degree or MBA in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred).
  • Professional certifications such as CA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent (highly desirable).
Experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably within the non‑profit sector.
  • Proven track record of managing donor funds, project budgets, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with compliance in areas like FCRA, TDS, and GST for Indian NPOs.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in financial management software (e.g., Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks).
  • Advanced skills in Excel and financial analysis tools, Able to make PowerPoint presentations and MIS formats for reporting purposes
  • Knowledge of non‑profit accounting standards and fund accounting.
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
