Job summary

FMCG D2C Brand in Gurgaon is seeking a Chartered Accountant with 3-6 years post-qualification to build the finance and controllership function from scratch. You will work directly with the founders, shaping the company’s valuation story ahead of its next funding round.

You will own P&L, cash flow, budgeting, MIS, and unit economics models, establish controls across procurement, inventory, sales, and channels, and prepare investor-ready financials for fundraising.

Qualifications

• CA with 3-6 years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in ecommerce, D2C, FMCG or retail is preferred.
• Strong grasp of financial reporting, compliance, and working capital.

Job Title: Finance Controller (FC)

Reports to: Founder / CEO

Team: Individual contributor initially, building out a team as the function scales

About the Company:

We are a fast-growing FMCG D2C brand with strong product-market fit, celebrity-backed funding (Shark Tank), and an ambitious growth roadmap. As we scale toward our next round of funding, we’re building out our core leadership team – starting with finance.

The Opportunity:

This is a rare opportunity for a young, ambitious CA to build an entire finance and controllership function from scratch – not inherit one. You’ll move from execution to ownership fast, working directly with the founders and playing a hands-on role in shaping the company’s valuation story ahead of its next funding round.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Finance Function Set-Up:

• Build the finance and controllership function from the ground up – systems, processes, controls, and reporting frameworks.
• Set up MIS, budgeting, and forecasting frameworks suited to a fast-scaling D2C business.
• Implement financial controls and SOPs across procurement, inventory, sales, and D2C/marketplace operations.

2. Financial Planning & Analysis:

• Own P&L, cash flow, and working capital management across online and offline channels.
• Build unit economics models (CAC, LTV, contribution margin) by SKU, channel, and platform.
• Support founders with data and analysis on pricing, margin, and channel profitability decisions.

3. Compliance & Governance:

• Ensure statutory compliance – GST, TDS, ROC filings, and other regulatory requirements.
• Set up audit-ready books and processes in anticipation of due diligence for future funding rounds.
• Manage relationships with auditors, tax consultants, and banking partners.

4. Fundraise & Investor Readiness:

• Prepare financial models and investor MIS to support fundraising.
• Support due diligence processes during future funding rounds.
• Build a finance function credible enough to withstand institutional investor scrutiny.

5. Business Partnering:

• Act as a hands-on finance partner to the founding team, not just a back-office function.
• Provide data-backed recommendations on inventory planning, channel mix, and growth investments.
• Track and report key business metrics (D2C, marketplace, offline retail) to leadership.

What We’re Looking For:

• Qualified CA with 3-6 years of post-qualification experience.
• Prior exposure to E-commerce, D2C, Retail, or FMCG – Big 4 audit background with relevant client exposure also considered.
• Strong grip on financial reporting, compliance, and working capital fundamentals; willingness to build unit economics and MIS from scratch.
• High energy, entrepreneurial mindset – comfortable with ambiguity and building a function with minimal handholding.
• Strong communication skills to work directly with founders and external stakeholders (investors, auditors, banks).
• Prior startup or high-growth company exposure is a strong plus, though not mandatory.
