Role Overview
The Finance Controller / Head of Finance will have end-to-end responsibility for: Accounting & Financial Controllership, MIS & Management Reporting, Budgeting & FP&A, Cash Flow & Treasury, Working Capital & Collections, Taxation, Audit, Corporate & Secretarial Compliance, Investor & Board Reporting, Business Finance, Financial Controls, Finance Technology & Automation The individual must therefore be comfortable working across both strategic and highly detailed operational finance activities
Key Responsibilities1. Accounting & Financial Controllership
- Own the integrity and accuracy of the company's books of accounts.
- Drive timely monthly closing and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
- Manage bank, customer and vendor reconciliations.
- Oversee revenue and expense recognition.
- Manage receivables, payables, payroll accounting, fixed assets, depreciation, provisions and accruals.
- Establish and strengthen financial controls.
- Ensure management, Board and investors have complete confidence in the numbers.
2. Cash Flow, Treasury & Working Capital
- Maintain a rolling 13-week cash-flow forecast.
- Monitor cash balances, burn rate and runway.
- Drive customer collections and monitor receivables ageing.
- Plan vendor and statutory payments.
- Manage working capital.
- Monitor banking relationships and facilities.
- Identify potential cash-flow issues proactively.
- Ensure there are no unexpected cash surprises.
3. Budgeting, FP&A & MIS
- Prepare annual budgets and operating plans.
- Drive monthly and quarterly forecasting.
- Analyze actuals versus budget.
- Monitor revenue, gross margins, employee and departmental costs.
- Evaluate customer/product profitability where relevant.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Develop management dashboards and KPIs.
- Prepare monthly management MIS.
4. Business Finance & Commercial Decision Support
- Pricing decisions
- Customer contracts
- Margins and profitability
- Hiring and compensation
- Vendor contracts
- Major expenditure
- Capital allocation
- New products and initiatives
- Other strategic and commercial decisions
5. Taxation, Audit & Compliance
- Take overall ownership of the company's financial and statutory compliance, including oversight of:
- GST
- TDS
- Income Tax
- Payroll-related compliance
- Statutory Audit
- Tax Audit
- Statutory filings and payments
- Compliance calendar
- Banks, auditors and tax advisors
6. Secretarial & Corporate Compliance
- Work closely with the external Company Secretary to ensure:
- ROC/MCA filings are completed on time.
- Board and shareholder compliance is appropriately managed.
- Statutory registers and corporate records are maintained.
- Share capital, allotments, transfers and other corporate actions are properly documented.
- Incoming investment documentation and compliance are coordinated.
- ESOP-related compliance is appropriately managed.
- Necessary Board/shareholder approvals are obtained.
- Any corporate-compliance risks are promptly escalated.
7. Investor & Board Reporting
- Establishing strong financial controls and approval mechanisms.
- Preparing and monitoring the investment deployment budget.
- Tracking utilization of investor funds.
- Preparing regular investor and Board reporting.
- Reporting performance against the turnaround plan.
- Monitoring cash runway under different scenarios.
- Maintaining an updated capitalization table in coordination with the Company Secretary.
- Ensuring high standards of financial transparency and governance.
8. Technology, Systems & Automation
- ERP / accounting systems
- Automated bank reconciliation
- Expense management
- Invoicing and collections tools

- Automated MIS and reporting

Candidate Profile
- Chartered Accountant (CA).
- 35 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong accounting and financial controllership fundamentals.
- Good understanding of Indian taxation and statutory compliance.
- Ability to independently manage budgeting, forecasting and MIS.
- Strong cash-flow and working-capital management skills.
- Excellent Excel and financial-modelling capabilities.
- Exposure to accounting / ERP systems.
- Hands-on exposure to AI tools for research, analysis and financial modelling.
- Ability to manage a small internal team and external professional advisors.
- Strong commercial orientation.
