Job summary

Pointo is seeking a Finance Controller to own the organisation's finance and accounts functions in India. The role includes maintaining financial discipline, timely accounting and reporting, cash flow management, and internal controls, reporting to founder/senior management.

The candidate will drive book closures, MIS, investor reporting and budgeting, with strong emphasis on Zoho Books implementation and compliance.

Qualifications

• Qualified CA with 12–15 years in Finance & Accounts and financial controllership.
• Hands-on experience in accounting, financial reporting and internal controls.
• Strong MIS, budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
• Experience in statutory/internal audits and financial due diligence.
• Prior experience in investor reporting is highly preferred.
• Excellent Excel and financial analysis skills with strong compliance awareness.
• Hands-on Zoho Books implementation and system usage is mandatory.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are looking for a Finance Controller who can take complete ownership of the organisation's finance and accounts function. The person will be responsible for maintaining financial discipline, ensuring timely accounting and reporting, managing cash flow, strengthening internal controls and supporting the management team with meaningful financial insights.

Finance & Accounting

• Take overall responsibility for day-to-day finance and accounting activities.
• Ensure books of accounts are maintained accurately and closed within the agreed timelines.
• Review accounting entries, reconciliations, provisions, ledgers and financial statements.
• Ensure proper accounting practices and financial controls are followed.
• Establish and improve finance-related SOPs and approval processes.
• Drive weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual book closure.

MIS & Management Reporting

• Build a practical and reliable Finance MIS system for management review.
• Prepare regular MIS covering revenue, margins, EBITDA, expenses, receivables, payables, working capital and cash flow.
• Track actual performance against budget and highlight major variances.
• Provide management with clear financial insights to support business decisions.
• Improve the quality, accuracy and turnaround time of financial reports.
• Work towards reducing manual reporting and improving the use of systems and data.

Investor Reporting

• Take ownership of regular financial reporting required for investors and senior management.
• Prepare financial performance reports, cash position, business KPIs and variance analysis.
• Ensure investor reports are accurate, consistent and submitted on time.
• Support the management team during fundraising, investor discussions and financial due diligence.
• Coordinate financial information required for investor data rooms and other due-diligence exercises.

Cash Flow & Working Capital

• Prepare and monitor regular cash-flow statements and forecasts.
• Keep close track of collections, payments, receivables and payables.
• Ensure adequate liquidity for business operations.
• Monitor working capital and identify areas where cash can be better managed.
• Work with the relevant teams to improve collection and payment cycles.
• Coordinate with banks and other financial institutions as required.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

• Lead the annual budgeting exercise in coordination with business and functional heads.
• Prepare financial forecasts and rolling projections.
• Review budget versus actual performance and identify key deviations.
• Support management in cost control and financial planning.
• Provide financial inputs for new business initiatives and expansion plans.
• Coordinate statutory, internal and tax audits.
• Ensure books, schedules and supporting documents are maintained in an audit-ready manner.
• Follow up on audit observations and ensure timely closure.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants and other external advisors.
• Ensure timely GST, TDS, income-tax and other applicable statutory compliances.
• Support financial due diligence for investors, lenders, business partners and strategic transactions.
• Identify financial risks and recommend suitable controls.

Finance Process & Systems

• Strengthen finance processes, controls and approval matrices.
• Lead implementation and improvement of finance-related systems.
• Sufficient knowledge in Zoho Book, Implementation, building SOPs and indepth knowledge of proper utilization.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity within the accounting system.
• Standardise reporting formats, financial documentation and finance workflows.

Team Management

• Lead and manage the finance and accounts team.
• Define KRAs/KPIs and ensure timely completion of finance activities.
• Guide the team on accounting practices, controls and compliance.
• Build a culture of ownership, accuracy and financial discipline.

What We Are Looking For

• Person should be a qualified CA.
• 12–15 years of relevant experience in Finance & Accounts , Financial Controllership.
• Strong handson experience in accounting, financial reporting and controllership.
• Good understanding of financial statements and accounting practices.
• Strong experience in MIS, budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
• Experience in handling statutory/internal audits and financial due diligence.
• Prior experience in investor reporting will be strongly preferred.
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills and Good understanding of internal financial controls and compliance.
• Hands‑on experience with Zoho Books is mandatory. Candidates should have experience implementing Zoho Books in an organisation, rather than only using it as an end user.
• Should be comfortable working independently and directly with founders/senior management.

Preferred Background

Candidates with experience in start-ups, EV, mobility, automotive, manufacturing, renewable energy, technology, Dark Stores, Inventory management, scalable service based industry or other high-growth businesses would be preferred.

Experience in a funded start-up environment, particularly exposure to investor reporting, fundraising, financial due diligence and building finance processes from the ground up, will be an added advantage.
