Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Video Editing Professional for a remote contract, paying $50/hour. The role requires independent work, strong editing fluency, and delivery-quality awareness.

You will source footage, craft realistic briefs, and build end-to-end edits while documenting grading criteria and editorial reasoning. Responsibilities include solving tasks, producing reference edits, and meeting deadlines to help improve AI model performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years editing professionally in film, TV, commercials, or creator content.
• Fluent with major editors (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or Avid).
• Familiar with delivery: resolution, frame rate, codecs, audio layouts, and frame-accurate cuts.
• Preferred: library of original footage with signed appearance releases.

• Contribute original footage or source openly licensed footage and author editing briefs.

Position: Video Editing Professional Type: Contract Compensation: $50/hour Location: Remote Commitment: 12 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Contribute original footage you shot and fully own or source openly licensed footage. Author realistic editing briefs from it.
• Build each task end to end in your own editing software. Cut, introduce defects or distractors, and produce the reference edit a correct result is judged against.
• Write grading criteria with concrete, checkable standards and the editorial reasoning behind them.
• Blind-solve tasks built by other editors and write up a step-by-step solution.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while improving AI model performance.

Qualifications

• Must-Have
  • 5+ years editing professionally in film and TV, commercials, broadcast news, or creator and social production.
  • Fluent in at least one professional editor ( Premiere Pro , DaVinci Resolve , Final Cut Pro , Avid Media Composer ), including basic color and audio cleanup.
  • Comfortable with delivery specs: resolution, frame rate, codecs, audio channel layouts, and frame-accurate cuts.
• Preferred
  • A library of unpublished original footage you shot and fully own, with people on camera who will sign an appearance release.
