Job summary

ALS Testing Services India Pvt. Ltd. invites applications for a Chemist to join our environmental testing team in Chennai.

The role involves timely analysis of water and related environmental samples, with emphasis on maintaining rigorous records and adhering to established methods. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of experience in water testing or environmental analysis and possess graduate/postgraduate qualifications in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.

Qualifications

• Graduate/Postgraduate in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.
• 1–3 years in water testing, pollution, atmospheric pollution or related environmental fields.
• Familiarity with IS/APHA/CPCB/USEPA methods or other environmental analysis protocols.

Responsibilities

• Analyze water, wastewater, soil, sediments and other environmental samples timely using applicable methods.
• Maintain laboratory records for calibration, checks, consumption, breakdowns and sample logs as per ISO/IEC 17025.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate procurement of chemicals and consumables.
• Perform instrument calibration and maintenance as per procedures.
• Maintain impartiality and confidentiality in all laboratory activities.

Qualification

Preferably Graduate / Postgraduate in Chemistry / Analytical chemistry

Experience

• 1-3 yrs in the field of water testing, Pollution and Environment, Atmospheric pollution and gases.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Objectives:

• Ensure timely analysis of the Water, Wastewater, Fertilizer, Atmospheric pollution Samples, Soil, Sediments and Other environmental samples as per IS, APHA, CPCB, USEPA methods or any other relevant method w.r.t Environmental samples.
• Maintain all the records in the laboratory for Calibration, intermediate checks, Sample Preparation, Standard Consumption, Breakdown, sample logbooks, Environmental conditions etc.as per the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.
• Timely stock Updating of regular chemical and other consumables for the analysis which are assigned. To communicate to the senior personnel for regarding the stock. to take necessary action for initiation of Procurement for the same.
• Intermediate check /Calibration & Maintenance of the instruments used in the section for analysis as per the set procedure.
• Maintain impartiality and confidentiality in activities carried out at ALS.
