Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL/Ubuntu/Rocky) in data-center environments.
  • Perform OS installation, patching, kernel management, and system hardening.
  • Troubleshoot server hardware, storage, networking, and GPU/HPC components.
  • Analyze logs and perform RCA; prepare incident documentation.
  • Coordinate with OEMs for hardware issues, firmware, and escalations.
  • Support 24x7 production environments and assist during deployments.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Field Application Engineer (FAE) - Linux & Server Infrastructure to provide onsite and remote technical support for enterprise servers, GPU/HPC infrastructure, Linux operating systems, and data-center environments. The role involves server deployment, Linux administration, hardware and network troubleshooting, firmware/driver management, system validation, and resolution of critical technical issues. The candidate will work closely with customers, internal Engineering, QA and Project teams, as well as OEM vendors, to ensure successful installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and production support. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Linux, server hardware, RAID/storage, networking, IPMI/BMC, troubleshooting, and system diagnostics, with exposure to NVIDIA GPU/CUDA and HPC environments being an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Linux servers, primarily RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or equivalent distributions.
  • Perform Linux OS installation, patching, upgrades, kernel management, package management, and system hardening.
  • Troubleshoot CPU, memory, disk, RAID, NVMe, PCIe, NIC, HBA, GPU, and server hardware issues.
  • Analyze Linux logs using journalctl, /var/log, dmesg, syslog, and other diagnostic utilities.
  • Troubleshoot boot failures, kernel panics, filesystem issues, performance problems, and hardware-driver conflicts.
  • Configure and troubleshoot networking, bonding, VLANs, routing, DNS, NTP, SSH, and firewall issues.
  • Support server deployment, OS provisioning, firmware upgrades, and hardware validation.
  • Perform health checks and diagnostics using tools such as lspci, lsblk, smartctl, ip, ethtool, top, vmstat, iostat, and sar.
  • Support GPU/HPC environments, including NVIDIA GPU driver installation, CUDA environment validation, and GPU health checks.
  • Coordinate with OEM vendors for hardware failures, RMA, firmware issues, and technical escalations.
  • Collect logs, prepare technical reports, perform RCA, and maintain incident documentation.
  • Execute preventive maintenance, firmware/driver upgrades, and change activities as per approved SOPs.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers during installation, commissioning, and production operations.
  • Work in 24x7 production environments, including planned maintenance and critical incident support when required.

Qualification:
  • B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or a related technical field.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux administration and troubleshooting.
  • RHEL / Rocky Linux / Ubuntu administration.
  • Linux boot process, systemd, services, users/permissions, LVM, RAID, filesystems, and package management.
  • Shell scripting/Bash basics.
  • TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting.
  • Server hardware troubleshooting and component-level diagnostics.
  • RAID controllers, HDD/SSD/NVMe and storage troubleshooting.
  • BIOS/UEFI, BMC/IPMI, firmware and driver management.
  • Experience with server monitoring and log analysis.
  • Good understanding of virtualization such as VMware, KVM, or Proxmox is desirable.
Good to Have:
  • NVIDIA GPU / CUDA / GPU server experience.
  • HPC technologies such as Slurm, Open MPI, GPFS, NFS, or Lustre.
  • Ansible or other Linux automation tools.
  • Red Hat certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE.
  • Experience working with OEMs such as Supermicro, Dell, HPE, Lenovo, or similar.
  • Experience in datacenter /server deployment projects.
