Job summary

Synthite seeks a Fermentation Specialist to join the Fermentation Team at Synthite State Park, Kochi. You will support and optimize fermentation operations, improve process efficiency, and contribute to scaling up processes from lab to industrial production.

Responsibilities include operating industrial fermenters, monitoring key parameters, supporting media prep, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring GMP, safety and quality compliance across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of fermentation processes and bioprocess engineering.
• Hands-on experience in fermenter operation and process monitoring.
• Understanding of media formulation and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor industrial fermenters per SOPs.
• Execute fermentation batches and monitor pH, temperature, DO, agitation, aeration, and feed rates.
• Support media preparation and optimization to improve yield and productivity.
• Troubleshoot deviations and operational issues during fermentation processes.
• Support fermentation process scale-up from lab/pilot to production scale.
• Analyze fermentation data and identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality Control, R&D and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent process performance.

Job description

We are looking for a technically skilled and motivated Fermentation Specialist to join our Fermentation Team at Synthite State Park, Kochi. The role will be responsible for supporting and optimizing fermentation operations, improving process efficiency, and contributing to the scale-up of fermentation processes from laboratory/pilot scale to industrial production.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor industrial fermenters in accordance with defined process parameters and SOPs.
• Execute fermentation batches and monitor critical parameters such as pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, agitation, aeration, and feed rates.
• Support media preparation and optimization to improve fermentation performance, yield, and productivity.
• Troubleshoot deviations and operational issues during fermentation processes.
• Support fermentation process scale-up from laboratory/pilot scale to production scale.
• Analyze fermentation data and identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality Control, R&D, and other cross-functional teams to ensure consistent process performance.
• Maintain accurate batch records, process documentation, and operational reports.
• Ensure adherence to GMP, safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
• Participate in process validation, trials, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of fermentation processes and bioprocess engineering.
• Hands-on experience in fermenter operation and process monitoring.
• Understanding of media formulation and optimization.
• Knowledge of fermentation process parameters and their impact on yield and productivity.
• Exposure to scale-up and scale-down studies.

Preferred Experience

Experience in industrial fermentation, biotechnology, microbial processes, enzyme production, bio-products, or related manufacturing environments will be an advantage.
