Role Overview

We are looking for a sharp, insightful, and enterprising Business Features Writer to join our editorial team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in writing long‑form features, breaking stories, and developing unique perspectives across advertising, retail, marketing, consumer trends, and consumer‑facing businesses.

This role requires a journalist who can create stories that not only engage marketers and agency professionals, but also resonate with CEOs, CFOs, COOs, and boards of India Inc. by connecting marketing and brand strategy to larger business and cultural shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate compelling feature stories, analyses, and interviews on advertising, retail, marketing, and consumer‑facing businesses.
  • Track and interpret industry trends, campaigns, consumer insights, and innovations shaping the marketing and advertising ecosystem.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with CMOs, CXOs, agency leaders, brand custodians, and decision‑makers across corporate India.
  • Deliver impactful writing for print, digital, and multimedia formats that speaks to both industry insiders and the broader C‑suite.
  • Collaborate with editors to drive cover stories, special issues, and thematic features that influence marketing and business strategy.
  • Ensure accuracy, sharpness, and reader engagement across all stories.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 5 – 8 years of proven experience in business journalism, ideally covering advertising, marketing, retail, or consumer sectors.
  • Strong editorial judgment, reporting skills, and ability to craft compelling narratives with business depth.
  • A portfolio of published features showcasing an ability to explain how consumer trends and marketing decisions impact business outcomes.
  • Comfort with deadlines, multitasking, and working across print and digital platforms.
  • Excellent interviewing, research, and analytical skills.
What We’re Looking For
  • A keen observer of consumer, cultural, and business trends.
  • Someone who understands the nuances of brands, business strategy, and the role of marketing in driving enterprise value.
  • A writer who can marry deep industry expertise with engaging storytelling that appeals to CXOs as much as marketers.
  • A networked professional who can source exclusives and bring thought‑provoking perspectives to the table.
Why Join Us
  • Be part of The Economic Times’ legacy and help shape the future of Brand Equity.
  • Drive conversations that matter to India’s most influential business and marketing leaders.
