Job summary

BAeHAL is seeking an experienced FEA Engineer in Bengaluru to lead finite element analyses for aerospace structures and components. The role requires hands-on work with HyperMesh, Patran and MSC Nastran, covering model preparation, meshing, solver execution and post-processing.

The ideal candidate will handle FEA activities end-to-end, from model setup to interpretation of results, and provide technical reporting with engineering recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in Altair HyperMesh, MSC Nastran and MSC Patran.
  • Strong understanding of finite element modelling, meshing, structural mechanics, loads and boundary conditions.
  • Experience on aircraft structures, aerospace components, UAV/drone structures or similar mechanical structures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop FEA models for aerospace/aircraft structures and components using HyperMesh and Patran.
  • Perform 2D and 3D meshing with shell and solid elements ensuring quality.
  • Define material properties, element properties, contacts, connections, loads and boundary conditions.
  • Set up and run structural analyses using MSC Nastran: linear static and modal analyses.
  • Perform buckling, frequency response, random vibration, shock and fatigue analyses as required.
  • Create, review and troubleshoot Nastran input decks and solver outputs.
  • Post-process results with Patran/HyperView; evaluate stress, strain, displacement, reactions and mode shapes.
  • Review CAD models and engineering requirements to translate into FEA models.
  • Conduct FEA model quality checks including mesh quality and connectivity.
  • Provide engineering recommendations based on interpretation of results.

Job description

Job Summary

We are looking for an FEA Engineer experience in the Aerospace domain, with hands‑on experience in Altair HyperMesh, MSC Nastran and MSC Patran. The candidate should have a strong understanding of finite element modelling, meshing, structural mechanics, load and boundary condition definition, solver execution and post‑processing.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on aircraft structures, aerospace components, UAV/drone structures or similar mechanical structures and should be capable of independently handling FEA activities from model preparation through analysis, result interpretation and technical reporting.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop FEA models for aerospace/aircraft structures and components using HyperMesh and Patran.
  • Perform 2D and 3D meshing using shell and solid elements while maintaining required element quality.
  • Define material properties, element properties, contacts, connections, loads and boundary conditions.
  • Set up and perform structural analyses using MSC Nastran, including linear static and modal analysis.
  • Perform buckling, frequency response, random vibration, shock and fatigue analyses based on project requirements.
  • Create, review and troubleshoot Nastran input decks and solver outputs.
  • Perform post-processing using Patran/HyperView and evaluate stress, strain, displacement, reaction forces and mode shapes.
  • Work on FEA of aircraft structural components, brackets, fittings, frames, panels, mounts and UAV/drone structures.
  • Review CAD models, drawings and engineering requirements and convert them into appropriate FEA models.
  • Perform FE model quality checks, including mesh quality, connectivity, property assignment, loads and boundary conditions.
  • Interpret analysis results, identify critical locations and provide appropriate engineering recommendations.
  • Support result validation/correlation and address analysis‑related issues.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with HyperMesh, Nastran and Patran is expected.
  • Aerospace/aircraft structural analysis experience is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to OptiStruct or other commercial FEA solvers will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of CATIA/NX/SolidWorks and basic scripting using Python/MATLAB will be an added advantage.
