Job Title – Factory Operations Lead

Location – Leanwatts HQ, Hyderabad, India

About us

At Leanwatts, we develop innovative power electronic solutions for electric mobility and energy applications through continuous research, engineering, and manufacturing. Our “Designed and Made in India” approach drives us to build reliable, high-performance products for the future of transportation and energy.

What is this role about?

We are looking for a Factory Operations Lead to take ownership of day-to-day factory operations at Leanwatts. You will bring together Production Planning & Control (PPC), Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to deliver products safely, at the required quality, on time, and within agreed cost targets.

This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring a strong presence on the factory floor. You will turn sales demand into achievable production and dispatch plans, resolve operational bottlenecks, and coordinate with Sales and, when required, customers on delivery schedules, order progress, and operational issues. You will also work with R&D and Engineering to move new products into stable production.

What you will do at Leanwatts
  • PPC Coordination & Delivery Planning: Coordinate with PPC, Sales, and Supply Chain to translate confirmed orders and forecasts into weekly and daily production plans. Review capacity, manpower, material readiness, and bottlenecks; agree realistic delivery dates, track plan adherence, and drive recovery actions when schedules slip.
  • Production Execution: Lead daily manufacturing, assembly, testing, packing, and dispatch readiness. Set priorities with production supervisors, allocate people and resources, monitor output and work‑in‑progress, and resolve issues affecting throughput, productivity, and delivery.
  • Quality Ownership & Improvement: Work with the Quality team to maintain incoming, in-process, and final inspection and testing controls. Ensure traceability, containment of non‑conforming material, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions. Reduce defects, rework, and customer returns while maintaining required quality‑release approvals.
  • Supply Chain, Stores & Logistics: Coordinate Purchase, suppliers, Stores, and logistics partners to secure materials and meet production needs. Review shortages and supplier commitments, ensure accurate inventory and timely material issues, monitor subcontracted work where applicable, and coordinate dispatch and delivery tracking.
  • Sales & Customer Coordination: Act as the factory’s operational point of contact for Sales. Provide reliable order‑status updates, flag delivery risks early, and agree feasible responses to priority changes. Join customer discussions when required on production progress, delivery commitments, quality concerns, and recovery plans, in coordination with Sales and Quality.
  • New Product Introduction & Engineering Coordination: Work with R&D, Engineering, Production, and Quality on pilot builds and production handover. Ensure approved BOMs, drawings, work instructions, test procedures, tools, and training are ready; control engineering changes and build feedback so production uses the correct revision.
  • People Leadership & Daily Coordination: Lead daily factory reviews, assign clear owners and deadlines, and follow actions through to closure. Develop supervisors and operators, build skills across the team, plan manpower and training, and promote accountability and effective coordination across functions.
  • Safety, Maintenance & Factory Readiness: Maintain safe working practices, housekeeping, and 5S discipline. Coordinate preventive maintenance, equipment breakdown response, tool availability, and facility upkeep with the responsible teams. Ensure operational checks and applicable factory requirements are followed and elevate risks promptly.
  • Performance, Cost & Continuous Improvement: Track plan adherence, on‑time dispatch, output, productivity, quality yield, rework, scrap, downtime, inventory, and operating costs. Review results against agreed targets, control overtime and waste, and lead practical improvements in capacity, process flow, and delivery reliability.
Must have requirements
1. Education & Relevant Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, mechanical, industrial, or production engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent practical manufacturing leadership experience may also be considered.
  • Experience: Proven experience leading factory or manufacturing operations, with responsibility across production planning, production execution, quality coordination, and supply chain. Experience managing supervisors and operators and delivering against operational targets is essential.
  • Hands‑On Ownership: Ability to independently run daily factory reviews, identify constraints on the floor, resolve cross‑functional issues, and follow actions through to measurable results.
2. Planning, Supply Chain & Systems
  • Production Planning: Ability to balance customer demand with capacity, manpower, material availability, and lead times. Comfortable reviewing BOMs, material requirements, work‑in‑progress, production schedules, and dispatch plans.
  • ERP & Reporting: Working proficiency in ERP/MRP or manufacturing inventory systems and Excel or Google Sheets. Ability to use reliable production, inventory, procurement, and quality data to make decisions and report exceptions.
3. Manufacturing & Quality Management

You should understand the complete manufacturing flow and be able to keep production, quality, and material readiness aligned as priorities change.

  • Process Control: Practical experience with assembly and testing operations, standard work, traceability, process discipline, and controlled engineering changes. Ability to work with technical teams on production readiness and recurring manufacturing problems.
  • Problem Solving: Experience investigating defects and delays, using structured root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and improving productivity, quality yield, and delivery performance.
4. Leadership & Business Coordination
  • Team Leadership: Ability to lead supervisors and operators, plan manpower, coach team members, set priorities, and hold teams accountable while maintaining safe working practices.
  • Sales & Customer Communication: Clear communication of order progress, constraints, and recovery plans. Ability to coordinate with Sales and participate in customer discussions when needed, making commitments grounded in factory capacity and material readiness.
  • Operational Judgement: Ability to balance delivery, quality, cost, and safety; escalate decisions that require management approval; and work effectively with Purchase, Stores, Finance, R&D, Engineering, and Quality.
5. Preferred Advantages
  • Industry Exposure: Experience in electronics, electrical equipment, power electronics, EV products, or related engineering manufacturing, including assembly, functional testing, and production ramp‑up.
  • Improvement Experience: Exposure to Lean manufacturing, 5S, capacity expansion, supplier development, subcontract manufacturing, quality systems, or building operational processes in a growing manufacturing business.
