Job summary

JLL is seeking an experienced Technical Facilities Manager to lead engineering and technical operations for a large corporate workplace in Chennai. The role focuses on reliability, safety, and efficiency of building systems and critical infrastructure.

You will oversee MEP systems, HVAC, electrical distribution, fire and life safety, and building automation, driving uptime and energy efficiency while ensuring compliance with statutory and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/E&E) required.
• 8-12+ years experience in facilities/engineering services.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, HVAC, building operations, and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical and engineering operations across corporate facilities.
• Manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, ELV, BMS, DG, UPS, and fire & life safety systems.
• Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs are effectively implemented.
• Drive system reliability, uptime, energy efficiency, and operational excellence.
• Manage technical vendors, contracts, service levels, and project execution.
• Ensure statutory compliance, EHS standards, and risk management requirements are met.
• Support capital projects, fit-outs, infrastructure upgrades, and sustainability initiatives.

Technical Facilities Manager | Chennai

We are seeking an experienced Technical Facilities Manager to lead engineering and technical operations for a large corporate workplace environment in Chennai. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all building systems and critical infrastructure.

You will oversee the maintenance and operation of MEP systems, HVAC, electrical distribution, fire and life safety systems, building automation systems, utility management, and technical compliance programs. Working closely with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams, you will drive operational excellence, sustainability initiatives, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the facility.

As a key member of the site leadership team, you will provide technical expertise, manage engineering service partners, and ensure all statutory, safety, and regulatory requirements are met. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with strong problem-solving capabilities and a passion for delivering resilient, efficient, and high-performing workplace environments.

What this Job Involves

• Develop technical teams and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Key Skills & Experience

• 8-12+ years of experience in Facilities Management, Building Operations, or Engineering Services.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Strong expertise in MEP systems, critical infrastructure, HVAC, and building operations.
• Experience managing large corporate campuses, commercial buildings, or integrated facilities portfolios.
• Knowledge of statutory compliance, fire safety regulations, and EHS requirements.
• Proven experience in vendor management, contract management, and budget control.
• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and technical decision-making skills.
• Exposure to Energy Management, Sustainability, and ISO standards is preferred.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Certifications

• Certified Facility Manager (CFM), FMP, or equivalent.
• Electrical Supervisor Competency Certification (where applicable).
