Job description

Role summary

We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer (7+ years of experience) who views quality as an engineering discipline not a gate at the end of delivery. This role operates with a shift‑left mindset, partnering with product managers, architects and developers from inception through production. You will design quality into the system rather than test it in after the fact. You will be responsible for ensuring reliability, scalability, accessibility and customer trust across our consumer‑directed healthcare applications. This role demands systems thinking, automation depth, and strong collaboration skills.

Key responsibilities – Shift‑Left Quality Engineering
  • Engage early in product discovery, requirement discussions and domain modeling conversations.
  • Challenge ambiguity and surface edge cases before implementation begins.
  • Translate product requirements into robust test strategies and acceptance criteria.
  • Influence design decisions to improve testability, reliability and observability.
  • Quality begins at architecture, not at regression.
Test Strategy & Automation
  • Design and implement comprehensive automation strategies across unit and integration testing, API testing, end‑to‑end UI testing, and regression testing.
  • Build and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright or equivalent systems aligned with our micro‑frontend and micro‑services architecture.
  • Reduce manual testing dependency through intelligent automation coverage.

Validate RESTful APIs and event‑driven workflows across distributed systems via Postman or equivalent testing tools.

Test service‑to‑service integrations and legacy API remapping scenarios.

Performance, Reliability & Observability
  • Design and execute performance and load testing strategies.
  • Validate application instrumentation and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Partner with engineering teams to detect and resolve production issues.
  • Contribute to post‑incident reviews and preventative quality improvements.
Accessibility & User Experience Quality
  • Validate compliance with ADA WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate closely with UX engineers to ensure consistent user flows.
  • Advocate for usability, clarity and consistency in application behavior.
Collaboration & Accountability
  • Work cross‑functionally with product managers, developers, infrastructure and operations.
  • Communicate risks clearly and early.
  • Own quality outcomes for the features you support, not just defect reporting.
  • Drive defect resolution through collaboration, not escalation alone.
Continuous Improvement
  • Recommend improvements to testing frameworks, tooling and engineering processes.
  • Leverage AI‑assisted tools for test case generation, coverage analysis and documentation.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers in automation and quality practices.
  • Stay current on best practices in automation, cloud testing and distributed systems validation.
Required qualifications (Hard requirements)
  • 7+ years of professional software quality engineering experience at a software product company (building software products sold to businesses or consumers); services/consultancy company backgrounds will only be considered if they involve product engineering in healthcare payments or similar domains.
  • Strong experience in automated testing including unit, integration and end‑to‑end frameworks using Playwright/Cypress or other equivalent testing tools.
  • Experience testing JavaScript‑based front‑end applications (ReactJs).
  • Experience testing Node.js‑based REST APIs and microservices using Postman or equivalent testing tools.
  • Experience working with microservices and/or microfrontend architectures.
  • Experience validating applications deployed to Azure or similar cloud platforms.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, product and UX teams.
Preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in healthcare or payment processing domains.
  • Experience with performance testing tools and observability platforms.
  • Familiarity with event‑driven architecture.
  • Experience using generative AI tools to enhance test automation and documentation.
What success looks like
  • Identify risks before code is written by influencing design conversations.
  • Establish high automation coverage that supports frequent, reliable deployments.
  • Improve system reliability by validating integrations, performance and observability.
  • Reduce escaped defects and strengthen customer trust.
  • Operate as a collaborative partner to engineering not an external auditor.
  • Contribute to a culture where quality is shared responsibility.
