Job summary

Space Matrix Design Consultants Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Technical Designer to lead interior technical detailing, MEP coordination, and construction documentation for workplace projects.

You will manage the end-to-end design and delivery cycle, review shop drawings, and ensure alignment with design intent, quality control, and on-site execution.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in commercial interior design with a technical and site execution focus.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office (experience with BIM a plus).
• Strong reading of technical drawings and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and plan MEP services and RCP layouts in line with project requirements.
• Lead planning and technical development for commercial workplace interiors.
• Review BoQ against drawings and certify specifications for cost control.
• Own projects from concept through on-site execution and handover.
• Review and certify shop drawings to meet design intent and technical needs.
• Check interior design drawing sets for tender and Good for Construction stages.
• Conduct site audits to ensure quality and conformance with design specs.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, vendors, and project managers.

Job description

Purpose of the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Technical Designer to join our design team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of interior architectural detailing, MEP coordination, and construction documentation. You will be responsible for managing the technical aspects of workplace interior projects from planning through to final handover, ensuring alignment with design intent and project goals. This role requires strong technical acumen, multi-disciplinary coordination skills, and the ability to work independently on projects of varying scales.

What makes the role successful:

• Manage MEP Services & RCP Layout Planning: Coordinate and plan Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing services in line with project requirements and ensure accurate and detailed RCP (Reflected Ceiling Plan) layouts.
• Interior Planning: Lead planning and technical development for commercial workplace interiors, aligning functional requirements with aesthetic and practical considerations.
• BOQ Review & Specification Certification: Check Bills of Quantities (BOQ) against drawings and specifications. Certify line-item specifications to ensure clarity, cost control, and compliance.
• Project Ownership: Take full ownership of individual projects from initial concept development through to on-site execution and final handover.
• Shop Drawing Certification: Review, comment on, and certify vendors shop drawings to ensure adherence to approved design intent and technical requirements.
• Tender & GFC Drawing Sets: Check, comment, and certify Interior Design drawing sets for tender and Good for Construction (GFC) stages. Draft and produce GFC drawings as needed.
• Site Audits & Quality Control: Conduct regular audits of interior works on-site to ensure high standards of quality, detailing, and conformance with design specifications.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with clients, consultants, vendors, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
• End-to-End Project Management: Manage the complete design and delivery cycle from kickoff through execution, installation, and handover.

What we re Looking For:

• Bachelor s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
• 5 8 years of experience in commercial interior design with a technical and site execution focus
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office (experience with BIM a plus)
• Strong understanding of MEP coordination, ID detailing, and construction practices
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Experience working with BOQ, vendor certifications, and GFC documentation
• Excellent communication, organization, and project coordination skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders independently
