Job summary

Job description

The Habitats Trust is looking to engage an early-career professional for a long-term opportunity within its Terrestrial and Freshwater Programme. If you are passionate about solving complex national and global problems from an ecological lens, eager to learn, and motivated to contribute to impactful, on-ground projects, this role offers a unique chance to work on a wide range of collaborative strategic pan-India projects aimed at securing ecosystems and their functions for human wellbeing.

The role provides an excellent platform to build expertise in conservation project management, both in-house at THT and with the wide set of partner organisations.

Core Responsibilities:

• To execute assigned projects across various sites in India under the Terrestrial Freshwater Programme
• To undertake coordination and communication responsibility with various stakeholders concerned with the assigned projects, including government bodies, NGOs and internal teams.
• Undertake data collection, management, analysis, and data security for various projects as assigned by Lead / Reporting Manager - Terrestrial Freshwater Programme
• Provide ecological/scientific insights, conduct research and produce technical outputs like meta-analysis reports maps that will assist the programme lead to carry out, manage and evaluate projects within the Terrestrial Freshwater programme.
• Take charge of all project management activities of assigned collaborative projects, including co-developing project proposals, processing tranches, reviewing project progress, addressing gaps and tracking project status.
• Draft proposals, reports, presentations, review summaries and any other associated documents required for the projects and the programme.
• Assist the programme Lead and the managers to strategise, organise and execute activities aimed at achieving programme and organisational goals
• Represent the programme or the organisation in meetings events as and when required.
• Any other work assigned by the Lead / Reporting Manager in the programme.

Required Qualifications :

• Master s Degree in relevant fields of ecology, wildlife or environment
• 1-3 years experience with NGOs / institutes (internships / volunteering / working) on ecology/ conservation projects

Preferred Skills :

• Technical skills - Research, data collection management, statistical analysis, Remote Sensing GIS
• Strong project management, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skillsFamiliarity with project budgeting, financial tracking, and expenditure monitoring
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Experience in proposal development, fundraising support, and reporting
• Project evaluation and tracking skills
