Job Description
WWF-India is seeking dynamic and self-motivated biologists with apassion for raptor conservation and ecological research. The selected candidatewill support the development of Raptor Safe Landscapes by undertaking researchand conservation actions that promote safe habitats, secure food resources, andimproved ecological conditions for raptors and other avian species.Responsibilities will include field research, raptor monitoring, ecologicalassessments, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and implementation ofon-ground conservation initiatives. The position will be based at fieldlocations in Karnataka and will require extensive field travel.
Terms of Reference for position:
- Undertake raptor researchand conservation activities to assess the status, distribution, habitat use,prey availability, and factors affecting the long-term survival of raptorpopulations. Lead ecological surveys, manage and analyse ecological datasetsusing appropriate statistical tools (including R software), and contribute toscientific reporting and knowledge generation.
- Ensure timely implementationof project activities and delivery of outputs in accordance with approved workplans, timelines, and project objectives.
- Coordinate with variousGovernment departments, community groups, academic institutions, and other stakeholdersfor effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and review of projectactivities.
- Identify and work withpartners and stakeholders to promote evidence-based raptor conservation andstrengthen collaborative conservation initiatives across landscapes.
- Identify practical solutionsfor raptor conservation based on field research, ecological assessments, dataanalysis, and consultations with key stakeholders.
- Coordinate with supervisorsand the Communication Team at WWF-India Secretariat for documenting anddisseminating project progress, research findings, lessons learned, andconservation success stories.
- Represent WWF-India atrelevant forums, workshops, meetings, and conferences, and build strategicpartnerships and networks with key institutions and stakeholders in theconservation sector.
- Undertakeany other tasks assigned by the organization in furtherance of its conservationand programme objectives.
Requirements
- TheCandidate should have experience in ornithology, raptor research, or wildlifeecology. Experience in field surveys, ecological data collection and analysis, andscientific reporting is essential. Experience in stakeholder engagement isdesirable. Women candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Master’sor higher qualification in the field of ecology/wildlife/environment/forestmanagement.
