Job summary

Macquarie Bank Limited is seeking an Executive/Assistant Manager - Data Engineer to design and maintain data pipelines and services in a DevOps-driven environment. You will work with Big Data technologies and AWS Glue to deliver scalable data solutions.

The role emphasizes strong programming in Python/SQL, data processing, and the use of AI-assisted development tools to create robust, high-performing data pipelines. Hybrid work arrangements are available depending on the role.

Qualifications

• Strong data engineering expertise with Hadoop, Spark, Airflow, Hive, and modern formats (Parquet, ORC, Avro); DBT experience preferred.
• Proficiency in cloud-based data platforms, especially AWS, with hands-on AWS Glue and scalable data solution design.
• Advanced programming and data processing skills in Python, SQL, and shell scripting, with ETL/ELT workflow development.
• Experience with CI/CD and automation tools, including Bamboo and Ansible.
• Ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools (Claude AI, GitHub Copilot) to deliver robust data pipelines.

What role will you play?

In this role, you will build and maintain data services and data pipelines using industry best practices. You will have the opportunity to learn about the business, build and maintain high quality software in a DevOps manner, automate its testing and delivery and ensure high code quality, testing and security standards are met.
