Job summary

Macquarie Group is hiring data engineers to build and maintain data services and pipelines in a DevOps environment. You will work with Hadoop, Spark, Airflow, Hive, and modern formats to ensure high-quality, scalable data solutions.

You will apply Python/SQL and shell scripting to implement ETL/ELT workflows, leverage CI/CD tools like Bamboo and Ansible, and explore AI-assisted development tools to boost pipeline performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Strong data engineering expertise with Hadoop, Spark, Airflow, Hive; Parquet/ORC/Avro formats.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, AWS Glue, and scalable data solution design.
• Advanced programming with Python, SQL, and shell scripting for ETL/ELT workflows.
• Experience with CI/CD and automation tools (Bamboo, Ansible).
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude AI, GitHub Copilot) and delivering robust data pipelines.

What role will you play?

In this role, you will build and maintain data services and data pipelines using industry best practices. You will have the opportunity to learn about the business, build and maintain high quality software in a DevOps manner, automate its testing and delivery and ensure high code quality, testing and security standards are met.

What You Offer

• Strong data engineering expertise, including Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Airflow, Hive, and modern data formats (Parquet, ORC, Avro); DBT experience preferred.
• Proficiency in cloud-based data platforms, particularly AWS, with hands-on experience in AWS Glue and scalable data solution design.
• Advanced programming and data processing skills in Python, SQL, and shell scripting, with experience developing ETL/ELT workflows.
• Experience with CI/CD and automation tools, including Bamboo and Ansible, to support reliable and efficient deployment practices.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude AI, GitHub Copilot) and deliver robust, high-performing data pipelines.
