Job summary

Volvo Group India is seeking an ExcelHer Mechanical Engineer focusing on piping and installation for engines. You will support Base engine and combustion hardware, coordinating with internal teams and suppliers to ensure CAD models, drawings, and installation requirements are properly released and documented.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree with at least 3 years of piping/installation experience, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering Graduate/Postgraduate or equivalent education is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in piping and installation for engine components.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Base engine and Combustion hardware components, primarily Pipes & hoses.
• Coordinate in-house and supplier development, ensure CAD models and drawings are released to Volvo systems.
• Update or create documents to design components (Technical Regulations, Installation requirements).
• Collaborate with Product Development, Purchasing, Manufacturing, After-Market, Quality, and Suppliers to anchor design work.
• Prepare verification plans and validate designs with simulations, rigs, or vehicles.
• Address field quality issues and pursue cost improvements and localization of components.

We are now looking for a:ExcelHer - Mechanical Engineer: Piping and Installation for engines

As Mechanical Engineer your task is to support and manage the Base engine and Combustion application components such as Oil and Coolant system, Brackets, pipes, oil sump, heat shields, sealings…throughout all project phases. This means that you must have the ability to drive work independently, with high energy and with an ability to build a good team spirit.

You will be the natural speaking partner in Powertrain engineering Bangalore for all Base Engine, Combustion hardware related

Your key responsibilities are

• Manage and maintain the Base engine and Combustion hardware components, mainly Pipes & hoses and PFAS activities
• To coordinate in-house and supplier development, ensure release of the CAD models and drawings for the parts and their documentation in the Volvo systems.
• Update and/or create needed documents to design the components (Technical Regulation, Installation requirement …).
• Anchor its design work and QDCF, by interacting with other teams within the company (Product Development, Purchasing, Manufacturing, After-Market, Quality, Product Range Management, Brands) and with our external suppliers.
• Prepare Verification plan and validate its design with required simulation/rigs/vehicles
• Solve field quality issues
• Perform cost improvements, localization of components
• Define technical strategies and policies for the future in collaboration with suppliers
• Support platform in definition of the design and verification guidelines for the components
• Evaluate component development budget for projects and maintenance items

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering Graduate/Postgraduate or other equivalent education.
• At least 3 years of experience in Piping and installation for engine components
• Good knowledge of CAD modelling in Pro engineer
• Fluent in English (verbal and written)

• Must be independent, pro-active and continuously strive to improve.
• Good presentation and communication skills.
