Job summary

Royal Enfield seeks a Specialist/Senior Specialist for EV – NPD & Costing in Chennai. The role requires 6–10 years in costing for E&E parts, and a BTech/BE in engineering. You will manage cost estimates for EMS assemblies, BOM analysis, and supplier pricing, driving cost optimization and value engineering.

Report to the EV Technical head, you will ensure cost targets, compliance, and margin integrity while supporting proto builds and cost benchmarking against market trends.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–10 years in NPD & costing for E&E parts.
• Experience in EV hardware costing and supplier cost negotiation is preferred.
• Understanding of EMS processes and PCB assemblies is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead costing for EV new products in NPD; ensure cost targets.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for EMS assemblies (PCBAs, box build) and electrical connectors.
• Perform BOM costing, SMT, THT, and box build (EMS); analyze components and pricing.
• Drive VA/VE initiatives and track cost reduction projects; benchmark against market trends.
• Maintain costing databases, provide margin analysis and variance reports; ensure compliance with guidelines.

Technical Skill Required:

• EMS processes (SMT, wave soldering, box build)
• BOM analysis & PCB and electronic components pricing
• Copper/alloy terminals
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics

What you’ll do:

This position in Vendor Development is accountable for the Costing Engineer for EV New products, adhering to Cost, Quality and timeline targets.

Prepare detailed cost estimates for EMS assemblies (PCBAs, box build) and electrical connectors.

Product & Process Costing

• Perform BOM costing, SMT, THT, and box build (EMS)
• Stamping, molding, plating, and assembly (connectors
• Depth knowledge in Electronic components manufacturers and dealers, Conduct cost benchmarking against market trends.
• Support proto builds and validate cost assumptions.

Cost Optimization

• Drive VA/VE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering) initiatives.
• Track and analyze cost reduction projects.
• Monitor commodity price trends (copper, plastics, plating, etc.).
• Improve productivity assumptions and manufacturing efficiency.

Reporting & Compliance

• Maintain costing database and documentation.
• Provide margin analysis and variance reports.
• Ensure compliance with internal costing guidelines.
