Job summary

Sigma Earth seeks a sustainability-focused researcher to gather ESG data from disclosures, analyze information per ISS ESG methodology, and monitor industry developments. You will collaborate with teams to ensure timely, accurate production and contribute to rating-related insights.

The role requires up to 2 years of experience in sustainability, strong English, MS Office proficiency, and an ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment. MBA with sustainability is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred in international relations, development studies, environmental science, international human rights, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of professional experience in sustainability, ESG research, sustainable finance, or related areas.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Sustainability exposure is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• ESG data collection: Gather ESG information from company disclosures such as sustainability reports, annual reports, and other public documents.
• Research and analysis: Process, research, and analyse ESG data in line with ISS ESG methodology and quality expectations.
• Industry monitoring: Track developments, trends, and emerging issues across assigned industries and areas of specialization.
• Production ownership: Take responsibility for assigned production targets and deliver research within defined timelines and quality standards.
• Internal coordination: Work with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of production without compromising accuracy or quality.
• ESG knowledge development: Continuously build expertise on ESG themes linked to corporate ratings and apply this knowledge to research work.
• Rating team support: Support the rating team through thought leadership, research publications, methodology reviews, and monitoring of ESG market developments.
• Data source evaluation: Recommend new data sources and research improvements based on domain knowledge and practical insights.
• Ownership mindset: Demonstrate a proactive approach and strong accountability for assigned work.
• Process expertise: Act as a process expert for production activities and support tutoring or process-related training for colleagues.
• Quality assurance: Participate in quality assurance procedures to maintain high research standards.

Qualifications

• Educational background: Master’s degree preferred, ideally in international relations, development studies, environmental science, international human rights, or a related field.
• Sustainable finance knowledge: Knowledge of financial markets and sustainable finance would be an advantage.
• MBA preference: An MBA with a sustainability concentration would also be desirable.
• Relevant experience: 0–2 years of professional experience in sustainability, financial services, ESG research, sustainable finance, credit ratings, sustainability-focused think tanks, or academic research institutions.
• English proficiency: Excellent written and spoken English skills.
• MS Office skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Sustainability exposure: Experience with sustainability topics, key sectors, data collection, or business research would be an advantage.
• Work ethic: Strong integrity, organizational skills, attention to detail, and a self-driven approach to work.
• Prioritization ability: Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
