The Engineering Manager is a senior leadership role in EPC/industrial engineering projects, acting as the technical orchestrator between disciplines, project management, clients, and vendors. She is part of the hierarchical organization, reporting directly to the Head of Department (HOD) as the discipline superior. In a project execution environment, the EM is responsible for the engineering team’s activities and performance, with regular reporting to HOD – Engineering Management and functional reporting to the Project Manager.
The EM contributes significantly to overall project success and is accountable for:

Ensure engineering excellence and compliance with project requirements. Optimize workflows, practices, and procedures using KPIs. Drive proactive risk management and effective change order handling. Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.

General Apply multi‑discipline engineering knowledge with strong coordination and decision‑making skills. Anticipate risks (cost/schedule) and implement mitigation measures. Challenge inconsistencies in design/quantities against ITB requirements. Solve technical problems of varying complexity.
Project Setup Prepare Technical Document Management Plan. Collaborate with scheduler and discipline engineers to baseline master schedule. Establish documentation systems (ALAIR, SAP, numbering). Implement Project Design Validation Plan (PDVP). Set up MOC (Management of Change) tools.
Internal Engineering Coordination Ensure compliance with Project Design Basis and GDSR. Align site information/datasheets with stakeholders. Track engineering progress and deviations. Organize and follow up on design reviews, Hazop meetings, and MOMs. Manage technical holds and engineering changes. Support PM in external change orders. Coordinate As‑Built documentation and engineering close‑out.
Customer Interface Lead technical review meetings and clarifications with clients. Ensure contract‑compliant document exchanges. Track deliverables, RFIs, site queries, and technical changes. Report client‑driven changes to PM for change order management.
Vendor/Procurement Interface Prepare TRS documents for packages/modules. Conduct technical evaluations of supplier quotations. Expedite inquiries and review critical document submittals. Coordinate technical inputs for timely dispatch. Resolve engineering/vendor changes and conduct weekly vendor meetings.
Engineering Outsourcing Coordination Certify subcontractor work completion against invoices. Organize kickoff and weekly review meetings with subcontractors. Manage subcontractor change order claims with PM. Capitalize subcontractor contributions.
Technical Knowledge Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering. Overall 17+ years of experience in EPC. 14+ years of experience in engineering, design, project/site management (EPC or detail design firms). Fluent in English.
