Job summary

Sodexo in Chennai is seeking an Environmental Engineer to lead the implementation of HSE programs across the client site. You will guide line management and hourly employees, ensuring adherence to Sodexo, client, and legal safety requirements while driving continuous improvement.

The role requires coordinating audits, incident investigations, and training on leading indicators, reporting, and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience leading or working in safety initiatives.
• Experience implementing safety systems, policies and procedures.
• Experience changing a safety culture, developing and leading teams.
• Safety auditing / inspecting, training.
• Strong communication and liaison with management, clients and employees.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of HSE programs in partnership with Sodexo and clients.
• Conduct audits and inspections; develop corrective action plans.
• Train line managers and hourly employees on inspections and leading indicators.
• Train on incident reporting, investigation and root cause analysis.
• Maintain HSE documents and records; ensure compliance with legal requirements.
• Provide bid support and contribute to tenders.

Role Description:
Directly responsible for leading the implementation of HSE programs
Key Responsibilities

• HSE processes implemented in accordance with Sodexo, client and applicable legal requirements
• Line management prepared to lead HSE on a daily basis through training and coaching
• Hourly employees prepared to complete their jobs in accordance with applicable HSE requirements
• Audits and inspections completed, line management assisted to develop corrective action plans; and completion of the plans tracked
• Line managers, supervisors and hourly employees trained in completing inspections and in the reporting of leading indicators
• Line managers and supervisors trained on incident reporting, investigation and root cause analysis
• All incident cases reported, classified and investigated
• Business Continuity Planning deployed
• HSE documents and records maintained
• Current on applicable legal and local / national requirements and internal requirements (Sodexo, client)
• HSE reports prepared and issued
• Provide support for bids and tenders Communicate and motivate safety at all levels
• Audits and inspections completed, line management assisted to develop corrective action plans; and completion of the plans tracked

Qualifications:

• Degree from an accredited institution in a health and safety related discipline that includes some formal safety component
• At least 5 years of experience as leader or team member in
