Job summary

Navi seeks a Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer to lead a growing team responsible for a hybrid cloud architecture spanning AWS, OCI, and on‑prem environments. You will drive reliability, security, and cost efficiency while enabling rapid developer velocity.

Responsibilities include guiding technical delivery, collaborating with product/compliance/HR, and ensuring scalable, robust operations across the stack.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years in DevOps/SRE/Platform engineering.
• 2+ years managing high-performance teams.
• Experience across large-scale cloud (AWS/Oracle).
• Strong knowledge of DNS, TLS/SSL, and network services.
• Security focus: IAM, access control, network hardening.
• Proficiency with Unix/Linux internals.
• Experience with logging/metrics tooling (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Experience building API gateways and service meshes.
• Familiarity with SDLC, CI/CD, and on-call practices.
• Knowledge of cost drivers and cost optimization.

About the Team

The DevOps and Infrastructure team at Navi designs, operates, and scales a hybrid cloud architecture, spanning AWS, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and specialised self‑hosted environments. As Navi partners closely with banks and regulated financial institutions, our infrastructure must be resilient, compliant, and secure by design. The team is responsible for ensuring that all systems run seamlessly while safeguarding sensitive customer data (including PII) and preventing any disruptions in financial transactions. We are passionate about building next‑generation infrastructure that balances security, performance, and developer velocity. This includes:

• Cloud and Hybrid Infrastructure: Scaling services across AWS, OCI, and on‑prem components.
• Platform Engineering: Creating internal platforms and tooling that empower developers to ship quickly and safely.
• Observability and Reliability: Implementing world‑class monitoring, alerting, and incident management practices.
• Security and Compliance: Embedding guardrails and automation to meet stringent financial‑grade security requirements.
• Cost Optimisation: Ensuring our infra is not just reliable, but also cost‑efficient at scale.

What You’ll Own

• Lead and mentor a team of ~10 engineers, creating a collaborative, growth‑oriented, and high‑performance environment.
• Manage all aspects of your team's employee lifecycle—including performance reviews, providing feedback, compensation discussions, and leave approvals.
• Set clear goals and expectations for individuals and the team; continuously track performance and coach for improvement.
• Drive execution of technical deliverables with a focus on quality, timely delivery, and long‑term impact.
• Collaborate with business, product, compliance, and HR stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with company goals.
• Provide strong technical direction and hands‑on support to ensure delivery of scalable and robust solutions.
• Identify potential project risks, remove blockers, and ensure consistent project momentum.
• Champion production excellence, including observability, monitoring, and debuggability of systems.
• Support hiring efforts through workforce planning, interviewing, and evaluation—focusing on building a diverse and skilled team.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 5-7+ years of experience as DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineer.
• 2+ years of experience managing high‑performance, sustainable teams.
• Expertise in managing large‑scale cloud (preferably AWS and Oracle).
• Strong skills in network services and protocols such as DNS, TLS/SSL, etc.
• Solid understanding of security—network, service configurations, access control, IAM, etc.
• Deep knowledge and experience with Unix / Linux operating systems internals (e.g., filesystems, user management, etc).
• Expertise in centralised logging systems, metrics, and tooling frameworks such as ELK, Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics, and Grafana.
• Skilled in managing and building high‑scale API gateways, service meshes, and related infrastructure components.
• Proficiency in system monitoring, incident management, and driving operational excellence through metrics.
• Solid understanding of SDLC best practices (code reviews, testing, CI/CD, on‑call processes).
• Good understanding of infrastructure cost drivers and ways to keep costs low.
• Demonstrated ownership and accountability for team outcomes and delivery.
• Strong people management skills and stakeholder communication.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritise competing demands, and make trade‑offs pragmatically.
• Experience driving end‑to‑end project delivery—including planning, estimation, risk mitigation, and execution tracking.
