About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Engineering at Navi, this pivotal role entails overseeing the security strategy, engineering, and product security initiatives. The incumbent will lead a proficient team of security engineers, driving the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust security solutions to safeguard both internal and external applications and products across the organization. Moreover, this position is tasked with developing secure‑by‑design solutions to expedite the delivery of secure products and to foster a pervasive security culture within the engineering team.

What We Expect From You

• Develop and maintain Navi’s overarching security strategy in alignment with Engineering and Product functions.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive security architecture framework, ensuring that security controls are effectively integrated into the design of products and applications.
• Build and empower the team and mentor its engineers, helping them advance in their careers.
• Develop and evolve security baselines and design patterns aligned with standards and best practices.
• Review and guide engineers on the development of appropriate security standards, requirements, and technology baselines.
• Provide secure design guidance to application and product teams.
• Own and implement secure SDLC/DevSecOps processes across the product portfolio.
• Build and own a lightweight product security incident response process.
• Cultivate security culture by a security champion program with various engineering teams.
• Manage the team including hiring, training, talent development, and performance management.
• Give true visibility of risk appetite and threshold to leadership and devise a risk management plan for the same.

Must Haves

• Demonstrates extensive hands‑on experience in product security engineering, with a proven track record spanning over 8 years in comparable positions. Possesses a minimum of 2 years of proficiency in people management and strategic leadership roles.
• Establishes robust relationships with both direct reports and colleagues throughout the organization. Foster talent within the team and elevate the technical standards when recruiting new members.
• Identifies impactful and pragmatic security solutions, ranging from immediate wins to long‑term investments.
• Proficiently sets and communicates priorities for both themselves and their team, ensuring efficient execution.
