Job summary

Birdeye in Gurugram, India is seeking an Engineering Manager for AI to lead a high-performing AI/ML team building GenAI features and AI-powered insights within the Insights product.

You will report to the Director of Engineering, define the technical direction for LLM-powered systems, mentor engineers and data scientists, and partner with product teams to translate ideas into scalable AI solutions across multi-tenant SaaS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience with AI development and leadership.
• Proven track record leading AI/ML teams and delivering AI-powered products.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms and deployment of AI models.

The GenAI Engineering Manager will lead and manage a team of AI developers, data scientists, and engineers to design, develop, and deploy AI-powered software solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of AI technologies, strong project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

What You’ll Do

Join a fast-moving AI team building the intelligence layer of Birdeye\'s Insights product. You will report to the Director of Engineering and shape how AI appears across the platform. Responsibilities include leading the team behind AI Insights Recommendations and AI-powered Custom Reports, partnering with Product to turn ideas into GenAI features, architecting RAG and agentic pipelines for multi-tenant SaaS scale, and mentoring engineers and data scientists to become AI leaders at Birdeye. You will set technical direction for LLM-powered systems, own the end-to-end roadmap with Product, stay close to the code to unblock the team, and represent Insights AI in the broader AI strategy of Birdeye.

  • Collaborate with senior management to define the company's AI strategy and roadmap.

  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee the execution of Agentic AI / Gen_AI / AI / ML projects from conception to completion.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Monitor progress and resolve issues as they arise.
• Technical Expertise
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Agentic AI / Gen AI / AI and Machine Learning.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on problem-solving when necessary.
• Collaboration
  • Work with product managers, designers, and software engineers to integrate AI solutions into products.
  • Foster collaboration between AI and software development teams.
• Quality Assurance
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of AI models and algorithms.
  • Implement best practices for testing and validation of AI systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred) with minimum 10 years’ experience.
• Proven experience in AI development with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
• Previous leadership or managerial experience.
• Proficiency in machine learning frameworks and programming languages (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms and deployment of AI models is a plus.
